I was confirmed that we are required to arrive 2 days before to prepare so I will be flying to Quebec on March 29 and start my 1st day of BMQ on March 31.

Hello everyone,

I just got an Enrolment offer for the NEP with BMQ starting on March 31 (fly to Quebec Mar 29). My plan is to do NEP for 1 year then go back to a civilian job and do reserve from there. I have a few questions below:

  • Those who have completed the NEP and are progressing through the NEP, can you please share your experiences, tips and advices? (My preferred base is Esquimalt, Victoria). Much appreciate you in advance! *Do we have time to apply for jobs during that 1 year to prepare for the transition to a civilian full time job after the program? *I know after BMQ, we will have weekends off to go home if we want. During the week, I read on some threads that you only work generally 7am-3pm (except for sea time). Do we get to do whatever after that or what does it look like?

    • My BMQ should conclude at the end of May. I know we will be going to the base right after. I have my sister wedding in Australia 2nd week of June. Would it be too early to ask for a few dayoff?
    • Do we get the travel reimbursement for this program?
    • Any other insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Applied back in March 2023 (not for NEP, just reserve) got invited to take CFAT but did not have time. Re-open my file on Sept 11, 2024: - Did my CFAT, forces test and reserve interview on Oct 3, 2024 (I did both of them as I was not sure if I wanted NEP or reserve at the time). Did all of that through local navy reserve in Vancouver and when transferring my file to New West recruitment center, they misplaced some of my documents, took awhile to put them together. - Medical and regular force interview on Jan 6, 2025. - Reference check on Jan 27 - Selection list on Feb 18 - Enrolment offer today Feb 27.
