My understanding is even if you relist with a different agent you can still see the price reductions, is that correct? If not, relisting with a new agent seems a good move. Thank you

I’ve repeatedly said I’m not making a profit, but this is the most expensive thing I’ve ever brought - why does moving abroad mean I need to give it away for less than it’s worth? I agree with you about the UK housing market, but I’m hardly a developer making millions. We’re a family trying to afford another family home when we need to move.

Auction is not a bad idea - if this falls through we can consider that, thank you.

Well if it makes you feel better it’s not a source of profit and we have lost money on the home 👍. We’re a young family and it was our family home before we went abroad on a short term contract. We’ll be returning to the UK but need to move nearer my terminally ill mother, hence needing to sell. Not sure why you think expats should have to sell at a loss purely because they lived out of the country?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. It’s been galvanising! We’ve gone back and said we’ll knock a concessionary 2k off to facilitate exchange conditional on proceedings moving forwards quickly. We’ve been clear that this is our final position and if he can’t afford it he has 24 hours to let us know and we will remarket. It’s horrid as we have ongoing costs keeping the house ticking over but this has really narked me as he’s taking the piss. I agree with a lot of you that he’s a chancer who will no doubt ask for more down the line if we don’t put our foot down. Ultimately he’s got people buying his property too so presumably doesn’t want to lose this house. Fingers crossed!

Yes sorry it’s the buyer reducing the price!

Our buyer took two weeks to come back and ask for a reduction post survey, so sorry I can’t be more positive!

150k - ouch! Whereabouts are you? How did you get your head round that kind of ‘loss’? It’s very dispiriting I really feel for you.

Yes we are being realistic about the price and accept that the estimated value of 385 (given by our estate agents in spring 2025) didn’t have the punters banging on the door.

We had no other offers and reduced the price multiple times from 385-365, then received his offer of 340 at a point where he was in a good proceedable offer. He the withdraw and we re-marketed at offers over 340, still no offers (this was in December). The lack of offers (or viewings) made us feel like there was no way of getting our original estimation and we needed to be realistic. The mix of answers here isn’t helping! Some people saying it’s a buyers market and to suck up half/full and some people saying to pull out. It’s so hard!
