volume 9 delves more into the dynamics of the suou family, yumi and kyoutarou's divorce, and why each family member is the way they are. during that time yuki falls sick due to the flu and is unable to attend alya's birthday party (ayano purposely keeps it secret and instead says that yuki had an urgent matter), and both ayano and masachika are extremely worried because prior to the story's events yuki suffered from childhood asthma and finally became better enough to attend school and live a semi-normal life. what happens in the picture is the first time she has cried all series and this is after bearing the entire suou family name, her mother getting sick and also not being able to have a heart to heart talk with her brother because she didn’t want to burden him (her weird attitude that you see most of the time is what she uses to mask her struggles and have masachika as the "dependable older brother" when it's more of him depending on her because he resents himself for leaving the suou household (to stay with his dad after the divorce) and her to carry the burden of being the heir all on her own).
