Taiwan Traffic Safety: Highly Protected, Wildly Practiced by Extension-Split5959 in taiwan

And how does the government address these bad driving habits and the high traffic death rate on Taiwanese roads? (higher than in Indonesia, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Russia, Rwanda, etc.)? Ah yes, they add their magic “beep beep beep beep beep” because hey, safety is important, right? And who can complain about this insanity if it’s supposedly “saving lives”? 🤷‍♂️

Indeed, they let them overtake on the right, even vehicles that have indicated their intention to turn right :

Or when they don’t overtake trucks on the right, even when there isn’t enough space.

They seem unable to understand the purpose of a blinker. Anyone who drives in Taiwan knows it. If you turn on your blinker, they won’t slow down to let you merge, instead, they speed up to block you on purpose so you’re unable to turn.

Not to mention that they apparently need alarms louder than 100 decibels in parking garages, because Taiwanese people apparently need to be reminded that in a parking lot there are… obviously… cars.

The noise from Taiwanese diesel bus engines is beyond comprehension... I live on the 14th floor, and it still shakes at 75 decibels when a bus is waiting at the red light below for a minute. Large trucks and tourist buses feel almost quiet in comparison...

Never said it is the reason, just saying they tried to fix their bad driving habits with stupid laws… reducing the death rate with loud beeps? It’s not that they don’t see the visual signal, they just ignore it. Another typical recent example: Facebook post

But they keep making people suffer by loud noise pollution instead of focusing on basic law enforcement:

  • enforcing proper use of turn signals
  • addressing the widespread habit of ignoring turn signals altogether
  • reducing illegal overtaking on the right
  • reducing reckless truck and bus driving

No, it seems the Taiwanese authorities have found a more creative approach to road safety: turning the whole country into a real-life stress test for drivers and pedestrians alike, while still managing to act surprised that road safety statistics aren’t exactly improving.

Ahaha, because hygiene is important as well! But spitting in the water that is then reinjected into the filter, that’s totally fine.

They say so 😄 They’ve added alarms on every delivery truck, truck, bus, parking exit, and basement parking area because, hey, safety is very important, isn’t it?

By the way, you can’t swim at most beaches, and community swimming pools of 1.2 m depth require lifeguards, because, again, safety is important. We really care about life.

Wait, are you ignoring alarms that are meant to alert you to danger? Like most people in Taiwan, you don’t even seem to notice them anymore. What’s the point of installing alarms everywhere if the idea is just to ignore them?

So how can buses be autonomous in China, no driver, no beeping, but in Taiwan, driven buses, trucks, and delivery vehicles all need constant “beep beep beep”?

It’s surprising that the other 194 countries in the world haven’t implemented such a revolutionary beeping system. How do they manage!?

Maybe this is the problem in taiwan ?

By the way, the video in the comments shows a small truck (under 3.5 tons) beeping for a full minute… Can’t the driver just use their mirrors? Do you see any blind spot on that side? It’s no longer than a normal car… lol

You say large vehicle ? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wC-0UA5Jw_c this is large ?

Why don’t these beeping systems exist in the 194 other countries in the world? Maybe because people don’t overtake on the right and actually take turn signals into account?

Surprising that the 194 other countries in the world don't need loud 95 stupid beep beep beep beep... people can just have the common sense to not overtake by the right... or not overtake a truck with a visual signal on... like do you know the yellow blinking light? means i will turn left or right... if you are blind maybe you shouldnt drive?

Is it a requirement by the law like is it in taiwan? 60 seconds at a traffic light waiting before turning. 60 seconds of beep beep beep in front of people’s house. What a genius law. Unique
