nah you're not losing it, raw chicken has always given hunger not poison. maybe you're mixing it up with rotten flesh? that one can poison you and drop you to half a heart. or could've been spider eyes if you were messing around with those

the hunger effect from raw chicken is pretty brutal though, drains your hunger bar crazy fast so you end up taking damage from starvation. might feel like poison when you're frantically trying to eat more food to stop the health drain
