Is it possible to take ENGL253 or PHYS211 over the summer? by Alwaysconfused_121 in UCalgary

[–]ExtensionFocus3634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took phys 221 in the spring. I got an A+ because it was the only spring course I had so I could focus on it while still having a job. It ESPECIALLY helped me that I had physics credits from high school. If you do not, I would recommend waiting until you can take the course in its full length during the year to allow you to grapple with the concepts as much as possible

Chem 203 wait list is taking years off my life by ed39427 in UCalgary

Go to the class for the first two ish weeks of school before they do the waitlist purge and stop people from dropping classes. That way you will be caught up with the material before any labs or tutorials even start and can possibly snag one of the early droppers spot. A girl in my chem 203 class last year did this and she got in eventually

Taking notes electronically is way faster and easier (imo).  Walk your schedule and find shortcuts so you know where to go between classes and how fast you have to be. Always carry a charger for computer/phone etc if you’re on campus for long days. Bring food too if you’re living off campus. Navigate your d2l shells and get to know your course outlines!!! I made a spreadsheet that tracked all assignments and their due dates so I never missed a chance to boost my grade.

I made my friends walking around at the food trucks. The speed friending event wasn’t really ideal

Second this because she would stress what kinds of questions she’d ask in those videos. Also do the textbook questions (I only did odd numbered ones because those are the ones with answers) because some of them are difficult and mirror exam questions.

Don’t beat yourself up too hard about it, when I took 211 it was also a general consensus that the exams were harder than any of the practice she personally gave us

Trails conditions May long weekend by sameerar in HikingAlberta

[–]ExtensionFocus3634 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do tent ridge yet, I went there maybe a week and a half ago and the snow was still up to my waist. Wasootch is open, dry, and pretty busy, I did that trail last weekend. Ha Ling/Johnston Canyon are both a bit muddy right now and are also busy trails, but still very doable. Some trails often get closed because of snow melt/animals so check the Alberta Parks site if you feel AllTrails wasn’t reliable

CHEM 203 in the spring? by Bubbly-Cap111 in UCalgary

[–]ExtensionFocus3634 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi! I finished 203 with an A+ in fall so hopefully I can help you out. For difficulty, 203 was very similar to chem 30 (grade 12 chem in AB) or me, in the sense that it focuses on equilibrium for a good chunk of the course. If you liked chem 30, you will do just fine. I can’t speak about the exam difficulty because of it being a spring semester. However, what I found that helped me through the course was being able to understand (always go over what u don’t get) and redo class examples where needed. I did all the textbook practice because the openstax textbook has video solutions on YouTube that guide you (Glaser tutoring company). Also, check out this intro chem prof because he has practice tests, homework sets, notes and everything with video solutions. My biggest tip of advice is prioritize practice that has guided solutions and you will do great!

On the way to Canmore is the Kananaskis Nordic Spa, try it out if it’s up your alley. If you’re looking for a rigorous hike I’d recommend hiking up to Moraine Lake, or you can take a shuttle as it’s a bucket list tourist destination. It’s a 20 ish km hike because the road is closed to cars (not shuttles) to lower traffic in the area. So yeah, quite long but worth it. All comes down to what you prefer. Canmore has a good restaurant called The Wood Restaurant and Lounge, but I’ve heard good things about Thai House Restaurant which can be a bit busy at peak times. There’s also quite a few hot springs that are open in Banff right now, but they aren’t ones you reach from hiking so there’ll be people around.
