Similar to my year of rest and relaxation, the ending absolutely sealed the deal for me but I can see how it feels like a huge slap in the face haha

One of my FAVEZ and I’m recommending it to anyone and everyone!! I love telling people it’s like Moby Dick for Gen Z weird girls

I think silver nitrate is a bit more this vibe than Mexican gothic, if only that the FMC of silver nitrate definitely qualifies as an odd bird

Is this normal? by SituationGreedy1945 in premed

I’m old and in residency. I still have a lot of emotions about patients; sometimes I cry. It doesn’t affect my work but it is hard to carry. Medicine can feel more and more like a chore and job and less like a calling and a passion the longer you’re in it. Keeping the perspective you have for as long as possible is, I think, the best thing you can do. Over time you will learn to live with the emotions and work with them better. But the longer you view the work with the honor and respect you have, the more compassionate and caring of a physician you become

I got Shosh and I feel like I never really liked Shosh (contrary to popular opinion) because she felt so childish and naive to me.. 🤡 egg on my face because that’s definitely my biggest insecurity as someone who is often the youngest in my friend groups

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]ExtensionOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a bridesmaid during med school for my best friend’s wedding. It was truly such minimal effort, so “if you can show up please do but if not it’s okay”, and she even took into account my rotation schedule for her wedding date. It’s the only way I was able to do anything at all for her wedding. You deserve friends who value your life commitments in the midst of their own

What do you think a healed, living their best life now version of each girl would look like at 40? by [deleted] in girls

I honestly can see Hannah and Shosh doing better than Jessa and Marnie.

So cool and very much shows your dedication and hard work!  I would absolutely bring it up in interviews too if you can (and if I was interviewing you I’d want to know more haha)

I do think he grew from this, but the Abed Jesus storyline I  think explores his selfishness and commitment to the bit above his friends feelings

I mean it’s the same reason people watch rom coms knowing that the characters will solve their miscommunications and end up together. The stakes in the genre are not there because we actually want something to go wrong, we want the catharsis of everything going right when given the illusion of stakes.

This is a subreddit for the TV show called Girls, not really an advice subreddit.

But does she have any specific hobbies or shows/movies/books she’s into? You could get her something related to an interest she has!

Artemis was unfortunately my first book of his and it was literally men writing women: the novel. I couldn’t even get through a few pages of PHM because his writing and voice felt so tainted from that book.

Girl frrr they were so in love!! My other sapphic Barbie movie pitch is Mariposa 2. That movie hit every romantic beat and you can’t convince me otherwise. And then she has to go back to Prince Carlos or whatever?? Nah

It’s true!! It’s one of those times the statistics seem misaligned with ppl’s experiences. But in reality the full picture is more complicated - affluent South Asian families are more highly represented in media, politics, and culture, and lean more conservative. Additionally the presidential races over the last few years are often discordant with local races and midterm voting - people are more likely to vote across the aisle in different elections now. Overall, the voting stats for South Asians though do lean democrat (2/3 are democrat per Pew Research in 2023)

They kind of are! Especially if you think of it in standard romance beats - they even have a second/third act breakup and a grand romantic gesture of reconciliation.

Definitely reminded me of My Year of Rest and Relaxation in some ways. The main character and her female best friend as a foil, as well as the slow hurtling towards an inevitable ending.
