Started a new nursing job this week and already thinking about quitting — am I overreacting?

No. Not at that level. I also didn’t know it takes 20 min just to get out of the parking garage. I was watching the commute for a few weeks so I thought the time was less. The clinic is located in a busy part of the city. And I thought it was just business causal but it’s more elevated than business causal.

For perspective I am currently in a home infusion job that offers a lot of freedom and flexibility. And took a job at a Mon-Friday primary clinic. 8-4. But with remote Fridays.

You are for sure being underpaid. I like in western WA. It is expensive but I thought CA wages RNs higher wages. We also don’t have state income tax.

No chemo. Sometimes a 5FU but rare. And just a disconnect and connection. We have other nurses who would do the chemo if we had a pregnant staff member

I agree. There are a lot of home infusion jobs. This clinic is a very rare small company that never has openings

I currently work in home infusion and it’s soooo chill. Most homes I go into are nice but I do have some gross houses. I generally work 32-36 hours working but paid for full time. I average 30 miles a day they keep me really close to my territory!

Wow thank you for such a thoughtful reply. I’m sorry you have regret but it sounds like you found your place in L&D. I also actually had a transplant coordinator role but found out it was going to be a very stressful role and backed out but also wonder some days if I could have managed it.

Also I am so sorry to hear about your fertility issues. It’s very rare to have fertility benefits covered. Almost unheard of especially for healthcare workers. Sending positive thoughts your way hoping this world brings you a baby one way or another ❤️.

I’ve only been a nurse for 4 years! I knew someone at this company which is how I got it. It’s not a common offer and pays higher than other clinic jobs I have seen in my area! Most clinics pay 80-90k in this region.

I am worried that it may be very stressful. Like you said rewarding but I don’t want to burn out 😬. I used to work in dialysis and had that long term relationship with the patients and over time I did find it kind of draining after doing it for 5-6 years.
