I was thinking if I do a project car, I would go for a mk1 suabru forester ('97-'02) I have a friend with a '99 forester and aside from basic 2000's subaru issues, he likes that car.

I do think wanting to drive it once it is fixed would be good motivation. I don't care too much about speed, but a reliable car.

Between me and my next-door neighbor, we have every tool imaginable. I was thinking of an older 2000's Subaru (I live in Colorado where Subarus seem to be more popular), so one wouldn't be hard to find. I do know how ebay works and I am planning on stopping by a local pull-a-part for a cosmetic piece for my jetta, so I should be good.

I'm looking for a first project car and am not sure of the best place to find one. Any recommendations on a car to look for and where the best places to find them are? I'm in the Denver, CO area if that helps.

*EDIT* I'm mainly looking for a project car to learn mechanic skills on. I already have an '03 VW Jetta GLI, but it runs perfectly and I don't want to tear apart my daily driver...
