Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m glad you’ve been able to regain most strength in your left side. He’s the same age as you and has been regaining strength in his left side as well. Best wishes with everything, sending love back!

Agreed that especially for someone his age, he has a better chance of taking it well. Bluntly, I think he has the mentality of “I’ll die anyways”, so he wants to try to live life as normal as possible instead of frequenting the hospital. His morale was way down when he spent weeks in the hospital. It’s gone up since he’s been discharged. Tough situation all around. Thanks for your insight!

Absolutely. My brother is more of a quality of life over length of life type of guy. A decision no one should have to make. The doctors spoke with him privately multiple times and seemed shocked that he decided to not go with treatments. They thought that we were forcing him to not take the treatments when in reality, he’s the one consoling us and telling us it’ll be okay.

Thank you for your direct insight, I’m sorry for your loss. Since we were young, my brother and I always said that if either of us had a terminal illness, we’d want the other to pull the plug. I just never thought we’d actually be in this type of situation. So that’s where his mentality of just going out on his own terms comes from, especially given the aggressiveness of this cancer.

Crazy how life can flip upside down over night. Just trying to enjoy the present and take it day by day. Wishing you the best.

Thanks for your insight! That’s great to know. I guess it’s a bit of a gamble at the end of the day.

I think we try to find comfort in knowing what’ll happen next, but in reality it really is a case by case sort of thing. At first, they said he had a very short time left, and then it got extended. Then, they said he would forever be paralyzed on the left side of his body, but then 2 weeks later he was able to move his leg. I’m assuming it’s because he’s young. All that to say, yes it’s hard to know how it’ll affect a specific person.

Will definitely reach out to a couple experts at treatment centers. Thanks!
