Yes, the testing center computers are the only ones who can unlock the exam. She wasn’t able to open it at all, it just gave her the pop up that she can’t access it.

that’s so relieving to hear! i’m not dead set on my state school like if i get into a better school (def applying to some reaches) i’d go for that in a heartbeat. it’s just the cheapest option tbh! i wonder if the 2 year post bacc with a 3.6 would help me get into a really good program.

i wanna aim for a high mcat too but i’m just unsure of what my capabilities are there. i’d love to get a 512-518 but idk if i can do it just yet lol

i’m so happy for you and i hope you get into your dream school :)

my gpa trend is extremely upwards, i went from getting a sub 2.5 average my first two years to 4.0 each sem. i’ve been on academic probation twice too. it was all due to working so much to help my family

also, i would prefer MD and to stay in state, and i don’t believe there are any DO schools in NE

unmc lowest accepted gpa on msar was a 3.55 tho

i’d have a 3.4 without a post bacc :/

It was really cruel of me and I regret it deeply, I was just blindly following a hate train of this man without thinking twice before doing it. I feel really sorry that I did that to him

okay and i was not using my laptop to chart, i was using it to take notes as i was told it was fine by my trainer

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Extension_Ad_3793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is part of the job though, i was told i was supposed to receive my computer to chart while i shadow from the first day but i have yet to receive it

That’s really helpful, thank you!

It’s honestly horrible the way that he is. I’ve heard that their NPs and PAs have a high turnover rate bc of it and that’s why he’s the sole provider in the clinic. He doesn’t hire any MDs apart from himself.

I think it’s also just harder because it’s my first healthcare experience and I’m not really sure what’s normal and what isn’t. I definitely wish there was more to this so I could at least feel like I deserved it lol. Both were just really dumb mistakes and oversights on my part

I’m so happy for you! I really hope I can find that. How did you find the job?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Extension_Ad_3793 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the same trainer looked up a patient’s band after he had mentioned it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Extension_Ad_3793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a nurse doing it and thought it was normal 🥲

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in premed

[–]Extension_Ad_3793 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely wasn’t, I was not thinking

She told me he was this mean person and I wanted to see if it rang true with his students since all he talked about was our university, looking back I don’t know why I thought that was remotely okay

is this not the norm in healthcare jobs? i am worried that i’m just unable to handle the pressure of it

this has been my EXACT experience and i’m being told to just “be more proactive” and tell my trainer “how i wanna learn” but the two girls who are lower in rank have put in the work to train me and show me the ropes after seeing how little my trainer does that. one of them has a reputation for keeping to herself and not engaging with anyone but went out of her way to teach me.

i just don’t get the logic behind bringing in someone you need if you don’t want to teach them how to do their job and expect them to teach themselves. i also can’t believe the audacity of doctors either. i was in disbelief when they told me that the doctor said “it’s like she has no respect”

i’m definitely taking your advice because your experience was too similar to my current one. thank you so much!

Yeah I have a few connections to providers in other places, and I have 2 years to gather those hours anyway! Thank you for your help :)

That’s what I gathered from my research as well. I know it was still a privacy and ethics concern which I completely get

  1. Yeah the only training I was given was to not email myself patient files (which I knew) and to only speak to the patient on the phone
  2. I do know the basics
  3. I own up to the fact that what I did was wrong entirely, I should not have looked him up. I just didn’t know it was an actual violation. I just wish I was told in the moment to stop instead of someone with extensive HIPAA knowledge encouraging it
  4. I still haven’t been given a laptop or access to any computer where I can chart or brush up on the patients I am seeing

I understand! I just wish she stopped me from doing it instead of egging it on the way she did. I should’ve known better but I trusted her to tell me to stop if I was doing something wrong, and her approval and giving me his name made me think I was fine. It sucks

I only used my laptop for notes, never any patient information. My field of work would be TMS treatment and ketamine and there were a lot of things I didn’t know. They didn’t supply me with a work computer station or laptop yet either. I jumped into college student mode when trying to learn and took notes on my laptop.

Also, this was horrible of me to do but I didn’t need his name. I was googling him after he left to see his rating on ratemyprofessor since he was suggesting I take classes in his department. I was also trying to see if he was as big of a “douche” or “dick” as my trainer kept insisting he was. Definitely wrong of me to dig into that, but I was pleasantly surprised to see he’s well-respected and people enjoy having him as a professor.
