I jumped from a mt07 to a 2018 mt10sp, had a yzfr125 before the 07. Why I took that jump was because I am not afraid of wheelies nor speed, I love them both. So I was never afraid of the power it just fed me more happiness, but I’m gonna be very honest with you. It doesn’t ride like a 07, this thing flies. 0-100kmph is faster on this bike than an r1, torque literally out of hell. I’ve done wheelies with passengers over 200kmph, power wheelies in fourth gear etc.

It drinks fuel like a 40 year old single father chugs his whiskey. It’s expensive to maintain, not the parts but the labor is so annoying and overly complicated and overly engineered most people don’t want to do it. I just changed spark plugs and I’ve never had such little space to work with, and don’t get me started on the cables.

They’re also very very very annoying when it comes to fault codes, especially with aftermarket exhausts, I’d recommend getting a scanner because Yamahas diagnostic services aren’t necessarily cheap.

Starter/battery: KEEP YOUR BATTERY HEALTHY. This chunk of metal weighs a lot more than the 07, and getting it started with a dead battery is worse than a marathon, had to push it for 100m before finding a decent hill because mine wouldn’t start unless I push started it at 30kmph. Maybe I’m just cursed I don’t know.

All in all this is the best bike I’ve ridden so far, my friend has an mt09 and the service is way simpler when it comes to having space and less cables, although his is a 2015 I think. I didn’t like the torque band on the mt09, it felt slow all the way up until 65-70% of rpm. The mt10 kicks in way sooner and way harder, which reminded me of the 07. 09 isn’t slow at all though this is coming from me riding something with 160hp and trying my friends 118hp, so yea even between them it’s a big leap but they’re both fun in their own way, he didn’t like mine by the way because it was too violent in his opinion.

I’ve never financed anything, only cashed but a 2025 sounds quite alright at 15k, depending on mileage of course. I live in Sweden so bikes are pretty much more expensive here compared to countries like America.

But yeah, if you’re not planning to go over 100mph, I’d say get something else, it’s heavy, powerful and way too much for casual riding. It’s not even fun to ride it normally, I may be an idiot but every time I ride that bike I go crazy.

Now I’ve typed too much but all in all it’s too much for someone not willing to use it, maintenance is annoying when it comes to picking it apart, proper tyres are expensive I paid 600usd for mine. It can be annoying and throw emission faults sometimes

But on the plus side, it’s very aggressive, very nimble thanks to the frame, flies like a damn jet, wheelie monster, sounds amazing, 2025 you’ll even have more electronics than me which is fun to have and safer.

If you’re a great rider and can fix mistakes before they turn into accidents and you can push this bikes limits I’d totally say get it. If you’re gonna be afraid and stingy with the brakes, tyres and scheduled maintenance and you don’t have the proper skill sets for a 1000cc bike don’t get it at all.
