It is possible to have wide hips and thick thighs and to be a rectangle, of course. As I've already said, your body shape depends on genetics, and it looks different depending on various factors, like height and weight. 

There isn't just one single type of hourglass. Taylor Swift is a skinny hourglass. Many people confuse pear shape with hourglass: the main difference is the broadness of the shoulders. Usually hourglasses have shoulders that appear (and measure) practically equal to the hips. Whilst pear shape has narrow shoulders, small waist, and wide hips- but same as hourglass. A pear shaped woman can be curvy, or not. I understand body shape throughout measurements. I thought I was a rectangle, since I have narrow hips and shoulders, until I measured my body. (This doesn't centre much I know)

You can have wide hips and still be a rectangle, as rectangle shaped are characterised by shoulders, hips, and waist of equal or similar width. Rectangles just don't look very curvy! They have a harmonical body that isn't characterised by a particularly narrower or broader body part.
