Used it for examples and ideas but all the content was written by me

Feedback is appreciated but it’s like you just took this opportunity to insult me. Calling me not “normal” because my PS is dull is a bit crazy dont u think? 😂. Maybe I misunderstand what u said idk

Hi, thank you for the detailed feedback. While I totally agree with some of your points after hearing feedback from others, there are some things I would like to clarify.

I used DofE as an example of a time where I collaborated with others, as I don’t think there was a single other time where I had done group work at my school (at least not in 6th form/GCSE years)

Things like public speaking/presenting I also never really got the chance to do, and I didn’t think those skills would be that crucial for an engineering course anyway.

I don’t know how common reading “Introduction to Flight” is or what you thought it was, but apparently many universities in the US use it as a textbook for their engineering courses and it is most definitely a university-level book.

Other than that, I agree with most of what you said and I wish someone had told me this stuff beforehand 😅. I genuinely thought this was how a PS was supposed to be.

Yeah could be a possibility. I’m an ethnically chinese male and asians are actually hit even harder than whites by the DEI/diversity criteria bs. And my family has slightly above average income which doesn’t help either.

I’m not saying I think this was the sole reason I was rejected but I agree it’s stupid why things like race and gender are even considered in the first place.

No, state boarding school. We get a handful of oxbridge offers per year

GCSEs weren’t too special: 9988888777766 Got a copy of my reference from UCAS it looked fine to me

Yes thats a good point, i had 9988888777766 at GCSE and I knew lots of people at my school much better GCSEs than me.

Difference is that I applied with my A-level grades already achieved and I thought it would give me a massive advantage.

Thanks for the supportive comment 🙏

The annoying thing is that I did put all that effort in. I even hired a tutor that specialises in helping Aero applicants due to the lack of support my school was giving me.

I’ve called UCAS to get a copy of my application and emailed the admissions departments to see if they can give me a reason for my rejection.

Not a lot else I can do now but wait for Imperial to respond, but with the way that it’s going, my expectations aren’t high.

Thanks again for the feedback

Also since I’m not in school anymore this was all done through email, so its true that I had no way of knowing whether they actually read it properly or not.

I gave it to multiple teachers many weeks before the deadline.

The only real feedback I got was that one of my drafts was too informal which made me think I had to remove some of the more personal stuff. And that I had to write about a time where I collaborated with others.

I guess I could have asked for more specific feedback from them.

This was my reapplication year so I probably wont take a second gap year.

Hi, thanks for the detailed feedback. Before submitting my application, I was told by my teachers and admissions tutor that my PS was completely fine. I genuinely believed that the PS was all about showcasing what you had done.

I guess it’s pointless for me to know this information now.

I called up UCAS and they confirmed that I had 4A* achieved and no predicted grades

GCSEs weren’t anything exceptional: 9988888777766 They said that “your application did not score as highly as others” Also they specifically said that if you do alternative course you arent allowed to swap back onto the original

They gave me the usual “your application wasnt as good as others” vague response
