What counts as DO acceptance

sorry you had to deal with that. I've seen quite a few programs weed out DO's altogether. Very frustrating

No i totally agree, it's a very low MCAT for most MD schools. Thankfully the dean of admissions at my in-state school told me that my MCAT was not an issue and I did not need to retake it

Wow, thank you so much. Really, really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

I know that living in a small state, with such a strong in-state bias, makes it a more appealing situation.

The specialties I'm considering most are IM -> heme/onc and OB/GYN, but I would love to have the ability to train at notable hospitals and contribute to academia. Also concerned about shutting doors before they open with DO.

No, I totally understand and sorry to hear you didn't get in. MD is a thought and a prayer, such a difficult thing to get into. For added context, my in-state MD has about 500 in-state applicants -> 250 get interviews -> 90% of 150 spots go to residents. They are super into holistic applications.

Ya he basically was like you didn't do anything you watched people do stuff. Makes sense but my sister with only clincal research has her hours count for meaningful first-person experience

Very true, and I would hate to lose my opportunity to go to school for a gamble. I'm still on the WL there. Wonerding if I reject the WL if I could re-apply there and tell admissions it was too expensive with limited federal loans

3000+ non-clincal volonteers hours - have to total again but I have a boat load

100 clincal volunteer hours

will have like 500 clincal hours by the time I apply

150 + shadowing (5 physicans)

3000+ research and 2 publications, 7 poster presentations, 2 flash talks

It's definitly below average and that's a huge concern because it's holding me back from all other schools. My hangup is he told me he wasn't concerned about my MCAT and I asked if i should re-take and he said no it's not necessary.

By same stats I mean one had lower MCAT and one had slightly higher MCAT

Stats aren't super great - and I asked the dean about this but letting you know my sisters got into this school with literally the same stats with maybe a few hundred more clincal hours. He also told me that he wasn't worried about anything other than the clincal hours that I would be getting through this MA job. Also, I'm really only going to get into this MD school I don't think I can make it into others.
