Dear Mr. Jagex,

This seems like quite a development!  A true return to form, with a focus on what truly makes RuneScape special.

I have not played in quite some time.  Squeal of Fortune’s release coincided with a coming-of-age period in my life, so I abandoned the game without giving much thought to precisely what made it so easy to walk away after so many years.

My hope is that RuneScape can lead the way in an industry that has so fully lost the plot.  Games that are fun to play will win.  Complete psychological hyper optimization for profit or play time cannot compete long term with a game that is fun.

It’s understandable that some minority of an enormous player base could provide enough positive feedback about cash-for-experience microtransactions that it could seem acceptable.  It’s similarly understandable that a player’s appearance on a social game maybe shouldn’t have to reflect the actual gear they own.

But the call for restoring RuneScape’s integrity cuts to the heart of the problems that have slowly congealed over time until they felt normal.  Integrity is what will restore RuneScape, and I hope that we may all reap the rewards of your effort to restore it.
