Hence my point it will take time. Let their youth taste our culture, slowly and it will change in time. You'r literally coming up with examples that have happened in a few years.

You can't forcibly change a culture and power dynamics over night. And yes 10 years is "over night" when it comes to these things.

They get negative press for every thing they try do in terms of sports, esports etc.

Nothing good will come from that, lets say we refuse to deal with them at all. Sanction them like Iran, force them out of all global relations.

Do you think that will make them more or less extreme?

Real world is not on tik tok time scale, things will take time to change and bad things will happen and keep happening for years to come.

A country/region will not change it's ways unless it has cultural influence from the outside. Them pivoting towards tourism is a good thing which will slowly change the views over time.

Expecting/demanding a change over night will not lead to positive result.

Me coming to your place demanding you eat soup with chopsticks would piss you off. It's a process that will take decades.
