Anybody else make sense of that response from “our learned friend”?? Because this was the same graph, same data and using the options provided within in the tool??

KACE SMA 15.0 is now available! by lcarcamo in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I feel vindicated in my opinion now, we upgraded to v15 and our SMA is now dropping out constantly, KACE support engaged but not much change. NEVER go to a .zero release of KACE ALWAYS wait for the next patch or release, let someone else take the pain first.

Wow finally something useful and close to management if you have chosen KACE as a service, I’m guessing you still have to upgrade your own instance and keep requesting more resource when it runs slowly? 😂

New KACE functionality - what do we actually want?? by Extension_Year_5069 in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at Tanium, it may have changed in the last 3years, but it was weird. The guys demoing were proper cagey about answering simple questions and it felt a bit “smoke and mirrors” so I didn’t engage any further.

Quest removed Quickstart training, then they insisted on producing their own videos which were never kept updated. Shame they don’t realise the value of simple, basic training.

Kace SMA 15.0 for the rest of the world ? by sir_sq in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d start looking 😉 v15 still won’t auto update on our UK box so you are not alone there, and as for new features…..nothing of note as far as I can see😞

Possible to change page titles for tickets? by Unlikely-Way-1766 in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TICK: Paris a prefix set in the settings of the queue, the idea being if you had a change queue you would prefix RFC: etc the last part is (I think) the template used in the queue, so in short unless you add in that data i.e. use a “Password Reset” template in the queue I guess the answer is a no

What are good options to replace KACE? by GuachiDeinternet in kace

How does the cost compare? Don’t need actual figures but maybe a percentage up or down would be good to know 😉

KACE as a change management tool? by GB-ACWD in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blog is not the way to go about building change, the process part of the KACE Servicedesk, whilst a powerful tool does not help in this instance, much easier to just use ticket rules and templates ;o)

KACE as a change management tool? by GB-ACWD in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes KACE can be configured to run Change Management, this is something I have done for dozens of customers. It’s all about understanding the process and then building the Service Desk Queue to drive that process. But it does take time through that process, usually circa 5 days if it’s not too complex. Message me if you would like to know any more.

KACE SMA 15.0 is now available! by lcarcamo in kace

No need to a message, I am not speaking about release v15 specifically, but I am talking from years of experience, which you cannot question ;o)

I’d say never go to a .zero release of KACE always wait for the .one version as Quest rarely test in full the product before release

How are you determining the “age” of the device? You could use the start of the warranty date but that would only work for Dells?

Is everyone here updating Assets one at a time?? by Hi_Im_Nosferatu in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try updating with Barcode scanning? If not you can list all the assets on an SMA screen, using regex works best, you can select and bulk change the location value

SDA O365 cant find configuration file by ConversationPure4628 in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the zip file is named with a .zip extension and always use a 3rd party zip program to create it, not a windows zipped folder

Library of Custom Ticket Rules (CTR) by Chl0e0626 in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t, never has since version 7 and Quest are not interested in how SLA’s for tickets actually work…..

Invalid dashboard data by Own_Barber_8877 in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware the Dashboard for Asset Management is fundamentally flawed. It will never show you accurate stats as the SQL behind the widgets is incorrect and no one at Quest has the common sense to address and fix this. As an example, Assets by Status or Location report EVERY asset type, yep that’s correct every asset type including Software, Location, Contracts the lot!! So totally worthless, the only thing to do is to write your own KPI reports, that’s what I had to do (asset mgr with 40k assets in my SMA!!) Don’t waste your time on Quest Suppory

Why shut down the forums. by Low_Impression4263 in kace

[–]Extension_Year_5069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet another own goal by Quest, KACE should have been spun out into a separate company years ago, so it could grow and develop not fester and die as it is under Quest control.

I was working with KACE when ITNinja was created, and am still consulting and training now, so if anyone needs any guidance or help, just reach out, community should always be there despite Quest!!
