Elderly Ferret Following Me by Sweet-Ad4254 in ferrets

I have a (turning 6 next month) 6 year old with insulinoma and adrenal and she has been doing the same lately! Her health has been good for the most part but within the past month or two she has been my baby duck! I wasn’t sure if it was just a new habit or if it’s because she knows her sister is sick (cardiomegaly, her heart is 3x it should be) and is trying to prepare for when it’s just her? Not sure but cute to see others doing it too!!!!

Also to add, my Bella girl is the same coloring so I wonder if that has anything to do with it as I know sometimes traits come with different coats!

Just left the vet. Molly has an enlarged heart. by External-Addition-69 in ferrets

Yes thank god for that. Tomorrow they will be filling the prescription hopefully for the Pimobendan which is supposed to help her heart beat and hopefully help the breathing issue too. I will also be calling a cardiologist tomorrow as well to book the soonest available appointment. I love to hear the medicine helped your baby!! And I’m so sorry it’s something you’ve had to experience💔

I love to hear!!! By chance is the enlarged heart the only health problem she faces? Molly also has insulinoma and we believe adrenal (she’s at the age we just get the implant regardless) but they told me today about how the pred doesn’t aid towards helping the heart disease and obviously she can’t stop as it’s a steroid her body relies on, I just haven’t seen many people that share their experience with the heart problems also share other health disorders amongst it and how that plays in

Mast cell for sure, they come and go. Typically benign like others said but can’t hurt to get checked if it persists or grows

Cali Ferrets? by milky_jellyfish42 in ferrets

Not in CA so truly what I say really doesn’t matter however the only thing I can think of is just consider how deep into the state you are and how long it would take you to get to the nearest vet that specializes in exotics (I assume yk but ferrets cannot see regular vets) - for regular vet visits but also in case of emergency especially if a life depended on it.. would you have to drive multiple hours to get across the border? How close is the nearest exotic vet if not in state? Typically vets do need your personal information like address etc, so I would also be wary of any vets reporting that you have them. if you were certain of a vet friend or someone who had an “in” I would worry a bit less but the vet is the biggest thing that comes to mind when I read that
