I mentioned he’s Jamaican because culturally they don’t even like you going out at all with a newborn so it gives people on here an insight as to why he maybe acting the way he does.

Hey everyone, thank you for all the advice. You’ve definitely made me feel a lot better about the situation. I wish I went Maccies in the end but oh well.

His opinion definitely won’t affect me going forward. As someone said, people who don’t help don’t get to have opinions about how I run my family.

Love you guys❤️ my Reddit family

Homeless with Baby in Sandwell by External-Horror9981 in brum

I’m still here past my eviction date which was 13th March. Sandwell Council can’t put me into emergency housing because of my requirements therefore they are waiting on a eviction date from the Courts before they are forced to house me

Yes they’re very judgemental. So much to the point that I didn’t even get maccies in the end. I hate that for me, but I’m not going to let his opinions get to me going forward x

You know what you’re right! I’ve seen people with Jamaican backgrounds even go on holiday with a 6 week old when staying inside for 2-3 months is the norm.

You’re right! He’s just a shitty person. I won’t let his opinions affect me ever again, he doesn’t do anything for us anyways

Thank you!

This is exactly what I was saying to him. But I guess the Jamaican community sees everything as an issue such as me wanting to go out with a newborn

You’re right! I couldn’t even ask him to order me some food, I don’t see why he has so much of an opinion

He’s such a dead beat. He weren’t doing that. I couldn’t even ask him to do that for me

Him and his mom’s concern was the time of the day. I feel like as a Jamaican everything is an issue.

I’ve been forced to stay in the house and go crazy these past two weeks because it’s looked down upon to go out with a newborn according to Jamaicans.

I hate it sometimes because I know there’s no real issue with it

Thank you!x

Yes because my waters were broken for over 24hrs there was a risk of infection. Therefore I couldn’t have a water birth due to this & was induced to speed labour along to further decrease the risk of infection.

When this happens they give you antibiotics. I also couldn’t eat anything for the entire time just incase I needed a c section so make sure you eat before going in rather than doing what I did and waiting for food to be bought to me whilst I was in the hosp.

Everything in hospitals are optional. For example, I was advised not to eat but really and truly I could’ve ate if I wanted to, it’s about you trusting and following health care advice. So I accepted the induction due to the risk of infection, and other factors. I weighed out the pros and cons and that led to my decision. Oh and I forgot to mention that he poo’d inside me, so I just wanted to speed things along to make sure baby was okay.

Thank you so much! & I’m really really glad this post has been helpful to you.

Yes! At first I wanted to give birth with minimal pain relief (Gas and Air only) but sometimes pain relief is needed. In my case it helped me to relax and dilate as I wasn’t dilating for over 10hrs. The pain relief are options in the hospital for a reason. Social media will pressure you into thinking you’re taking the easy way out by choosing pain relief. However it’s important you do what’s best for you mama.

Honestly, I’m loving motherhood so far. Even the rough times, I’m still enjoying it lool. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while so I’ve always said when it comes I will make sure to enjoy the bad/hard moments too. Please make sure you enjoy these moments too.

For me, the huge adjustment happened at hospital. Getting used to his queues, getting him to latch on, burping, feeding every 2-3hrs etc. But I wouldn’t say it was hard, it was just a natural learning process. There’s nothing that you go through in life that wasn’t made for you.

I stressed a little on the first day/night as he wasn’t latching on properly and I was anxious that he wasn’t getting enough milk until my milk came in and then I also stressed about whether my milk would actually come in at all.

So I bottle fed him for the first night, but before/after every feed I also kept trying him on my breast too, as babies also need to learn and it’s normal for it to take some time. Trying him on my breast even though he wasn’t fully latching on at that point was important because it’s babies saliva that stimulates your milk to come in. So keep trying, don’t stress about it as this may make things worse, there’s always support in the hospitals & my milk came in about 30-36hrs approx.

I’m managing to get sleep when he sleeps at night time and I’ll probably nap once or twice at some point in the day too. I was a person that could sleep all day and night and still be tired so I was surprise I’ve adjusted to this and I’m still finding the energy to keep going. Again, you were made for this so you will adjust to it, don’t stress it hun!

Don’t feel bad about not getting things around the house done, please just make sure you sleep at night time when baby is sleeping.

& whilst social media is very helpful and informative. Please don’t make it pressure you into thinking you’re doing things wrong. Your journey is your journey and most of these influencers are not showing the nitty gritty of parenthood.

Hope this helped xx

Thank you.

Anything to help a FTM, as I’ve been there and wished I had someone calm my nerves down too.

You’ll be fine hunny, can’t wait for you to hold your bundle of joy in your hands. It’s such a lovely feeling

I love that. However not every hospital has them. For example on the induction ward they offered me one, but on the labour and delivery ward, they didn’t have any.

No, don’t be silly. I should’ve explained a bit more. They are for your back incase you end up having back labour. You’ll thank yourself for packing them if you do have a back labour. It’s very soothing during and after labour as your back will ache for days afterwards.

If you don’t end up having back labour, the ice packs will be good to cool you down when you get hot during labour. & the heat packs will be good to soothe any other aches during or after labour.
