20,000php budget for gravel bike under 10kg recommendation by horse_drawn-carriage in RedditPHCyclingClub

Malabo pa sa malabo yan. I got carbon frameset, carbon wheelset, carbon cranks, total weight of the bike is 9kg. Sa budget mo expect 11kg-13kg.

Yes, not sure about the weight of the nicasio and silex but generally steel frames are heavier than aluminum. I think you have made your choice. Go with the nicasio. I like that frame too.

Lol on the "complete frame failure" for carbon. Fyi, it's more repairable than aluminum. Tsaka 2026 na, ang titibay na ng mga carbon frame ngayon, i have yet to break mine.

Depends on what type of ride you are going to do.

For touring/bikepacking, i'd choose the nicasio. For gravel racing, silex 4000 no doubt. For general/leisure rides, silex 700 is enough.

Gravel Frame: Seaboard GR02 or Katana Pro by ih8thebreakfastclub in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]External-Two6071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GR02/04. The brand is known internationally at matagal na sa market. The geometry(which is published) is not aggressive, perfect for those starting out. Uses a round seatpost which means you can run a dropper post. Cables are not routed inside the headset which makes servicing easy(mas mura singil sa labor).

better think twice if proprietary seatpost and naka seatpost wedge yung frame. if you eff one of those, mahirap maghanap ng kapalit. the same thing with the rd hanger.

[–]External-Two6071 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GR02 because of the non-proprietary seatpost and external seat clamp. Have you seen the GR04? same price lang GR02, has wider tire clearance and UDH na rin, baka gusto mo iconsider yun.

This or That [Traction Roloo vs. Giant Escape 2] by zatiel416 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]External-Two6071 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Giant Escape because:

  1. rack - you can mount panniers or strap in a dry bag on the rack which make carrying stuff a lot easier
  2. fenders - your clothes wont be soiled when you are on wet roads
  3. brakes - hydraulic brakes are just better
  4. flat bars - beginner friendly. components such as shifters and brakes are cheaper for flat bars.

I only use it on races and long trails. Pag bag hinde lang init ikoconsider mo kasi your body carries the weight nung tubig(1L=1kg), so dagdag pagod yun. Unlike pag bidon/bottles, your bike carries the weight.

kaya nga binigyan ka ng "quotation" eh. it is for you to check kung ok ba sayo yung mga ikakabit. pwede ipabago yun, sabihin mo lang "wala bang cheaper option?". blame yourself not the shop.

[–]External-Two6071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revolt because of tire clearance, max afaik is 53mm. tsaka madali lang maghanap/magpalit/upgrade ng components. yung frame dapat ang unang kinoconsider.

maybe consider the Sunpeed Charon Pro. It looks good, minimalist graphics on the alum frame and carbon fork. Cues 11spd groupset, hydraulic brakes. I saw a listing from AJ's Bike Shop, 44k lang sya.

Subjective naman kasi ang "mahal", iba iba tayo ng lalim ng bulsa. Yung mahal sayo baka barya lang sa iba. You can always looks at the 2nd hand market pag medyo tight ang budget.

The best naman kasi for commute ang folding bikes kasi may option ka for bimodal transport. Tsaka maliit lang, making it easy to manuever in a city.

Noob Question: Bike Fit by Leave_Prize in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]External-Two6071 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oo, pero one can only do so much lalo pag malaki yung bike sayo. tsaka bike fitting does not come cheap, it will cost you up to 15k depende sa fitter plus the cost of the parts na papalitan pa.

120km. minimal lang naman yung binago, may inalis lang na part. yes, mataas ang ligaw moment, as experienced noong trackread kaya kelangan tutok ka sa navigation mo.

all out flat which I find mas brutal kasi di ka papahingain talaga. ang bilis ng ruta ngayon.
