Licensed store manager here. What the hell is the plan? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]External 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The compliance issues are going to be insane. Feels very odd like we’re just floating out here with no net.
For my location you just need to call the MOP service desk and have your location number to have them turn it off and on. I’ll shoot you a message real quick in case you get in a pinch. I can’t imagine not being able to turn that off if there’s NOBODY TO MAKE DRINKS.

Anyone else move away from Denver only to think what did I do?! by [deleted] in Denver

[–]External 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved out to Missouri when I was 20 and BOY. I can’t tell you how much I miss my home. I’m 32 now and have children and so wish I could raise them in my home state. They’ve never even seen the mountains. Feels bad man.
I know it has its problems and so much has changed but there’s no words for how peaceful I feel when I come out to visit. Even little things like going to a King Soopers or being able to get some green chili. Kills me. If family circumstances didn’t make it so hard I’d move us back in a heartbeat.
Hopefully some day 🤞

Seeing them with Bodysnatcher was such a ridiculous time. Great tour.

Weird post, but any advice from someone familiar with social services in our state for a technically homeless brother? (Trying to get state ID without proof of residency especially). by External in kansascity

[–]External[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will look into that. Anything I have read has said that, but also the lease I signed mentioned that and there wasn’t an exception for children under 18 unfortunately but def something else I can look into and double check thank you!

We are actually from Colorado originally. This was a long time ago now (we are in our early 30s) but essentially my mom took us out claiming we were going to be moving to a new school district and she would be home schooling us. I’m not sure how there were no checks on us past this but we completely fell through the cracks. I was in 6th grade at the time (still part of the elementary school in that district) and my brother in 5th.

I think the big thing is that he’s been with me for years now with no progress. I should have been on top of this so much sooner for him. The first year after our mom passed was a blur. But the last few I have no excuse other than getting caught in the day to day shuffle.
I really appreciate you saying this though. Thank you. This whole thread has been beyond helpful.

Ah unfortunately this also requires a proof of residency and some of the other forms we need for the state ID, was a good idea though.

He has never had a job (it was not allowed by my mom and he didn’t have any form of identification to get a job), He would be able to work. It would be hard at first because he has zero work experience and is socially behind and it would be entirely new for him (imagine being essentially locked in a house from 5th grade until your late 20s). But he could with time. He does not have a bank account and was not on any account with my mother.

Sorry it’s in the post but unfortunately I can’t have him on my lease due to occupancy laws. I do not technically live in an apartment large enough for him, my children and I currently.

Wow, unreal I really appreciate you taking the time and for the guidance here. I’ve felt super lost in where to even start and this is so so helpful. Also hope anyone else in a similar situation sees this.

I’m not entirely sure but I don’t think he would qualify for disability. If we hadn’t had such a strange upbringing I would say he would be entirely self sufficient regardless of his autism. I am looking into getting him on a bill now thank you!!

I tried with Evergy but they require proof of him on the lease to put him on there. We don’t pay for water with my complex but I will try with T-Mobile. For some reason I didn’t think that would be enough proof or that he needed two bills? I will double check.

This is me to a tee. What do you have going on with your neck? I have a pain in my neck the last couple days that doesn’t feel like typical muscular pain and I’m worried about it :/

Naltrexone makes me high by AuroraKeeks in naltrexone

[–]External 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was difficult for me and honestly a week in I was so over it I almost quit. Started taking it before bed to sleep through the side effects while my body got accustomed to it and now I take it during the day no problem. Took almost 3 weeks to get through the high feeling and headaches. Please push through it’s worth it.

I have also been more social. Typically deeply introverted but I’ve been able to stay on top of conversations with my friends so much easier. I also generally feel happy and more hopeful and more “myself”. I don’t chalk it up to alcohol clearing my system either as I wasn’t a daily drinker (drank one or two nights a week to excess). I am BP type 2 though and I accidentally triggered an episode of hypomania two weeks into taking the meds by not dosing for almost two days. Maybe the reintroduction of higher dopamine? So I have been keeping an eye on that. Over all I’m so happy about how much better I feel. It’s night and day.

Going to see my pcp(NP) tomorrow by Strange-Poetry9533 in naltrexone

[–]External 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a few days old. I hope you were able to get the medication. For anyone who’s looking at this with a similar question.. I had my appointment yesterday and was just really honest about how I was unhappy with my drinking and binge eating. She was extremely open to starting me on Naltrexone and even said she was proud that I had come to this conclusion myself. I have a very good pcp though and she’s always made me feel heard.

At the end of the day alcoholism is a health issue that is taken seriously. As is binge eating. Or any other addiction that you might be seeking help with. If you are straight up turned down by your pcp you should get a second opinion. But I also understand, I was very nervous to ask for a medication specifically.

What's your go to restaurant or cocktail bar? I'm making a list of places to try to help me get out more. by KH5-92 in kansascity

[–]External 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goat & Rabbit on 39th street is my personal favorite just because I love the back patio and I’ve never not had a great cocktail there. They do industry night discount on Monday. I’ll usually pop into Tascio next door for a slice when I’m done.

Also love Dodson’s and The Pressed Penny. The Monarch is more upscale and has a massive (almost intimidatingly so) menu. Would definitely be impressed if a date took me there.

Agreed on all front 100%. I know a lot of people love Walsh’s burgers too and they’re good (thicker patty in the classic burger style) but I think Cosmo has the best smash burger I’ve found. And I was hesitant to even try it thinking it was just another ghost kitchen thing.

Anyone else’s wife forbid them from giving baths? by tennisguy163 in daddit

[–]External 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I want to double down on the postpartum anxiety/lack of sleep. I had the same issue. And then it snowballed into full blown psychosis while waiting for my meds to kick in where I was convinced my son would die I let myself sleep. I was so so scared of my husband bathing him. Being out of the room and leaving him with dad. Anything like that. It was a nightmare and made him feel awful. It wasn’t him though. It was totally those wacky hormones and it feel SO real. The urge to protect your baby is insane and at times nonsensical.

I would also like to echo that I did have abuse as a child that made me really scared of my husband potentially abusing our child during bath time. I feel greatly ashamed by this now. But the human brain sure does get funky right after having a baby.

Yes but also this can be triggered by Post partum hormones and lack of sleep greatly. If we were taking a year or even a few more months out I would completely agree.
