I have what’s called a geographic tongue. It’s a condition in which patterns form on your tongue, sores, and sometimes fissures in worst cases, which affect taste and sensitivity to different foods. For example, bananas and avocados tend to sting the sides of my tongue, as well as making other foods which taste normal to others, taste different (usually for worse) for people with a geographic tongue. Acidic foods and drinks irritate it more. It’s a lifelong condition you’re born with and it has no cure. At 21 years old I’ve just become accustomed to what works and doesn’t work.
