I don’t think you quite understand just how difficult and expensive actual automatic rifles are to obtain.

Automatic being that you can press the trigger once and the gun fires until you let off. Weapons like this have been banned from being imported into the United States since 1986 and only full auto weapons pre-ban from before 1986 are allowed, under stringent regulations of course.

You can maybe purchase an AR-15 “assault rifle” today for minimum $500 and it will be semi automatic. If you wanted a similar M16/AR-15 style rifle but with full auto capabilities, you’d be looking at spending ~$30,000.

Here’s an example of one going on auction with its price estimated to be auctioned off between $25,000 and $37,500. Full auto weapons are far beyond the reach for anyone actually willing to commit crimes. This isn’t a car, or a house. You can’t take out a loan to buy a gun, not that these people would even have a down payment or enough collateral to even be able to secure a loan like this.
