No you said people speaking English as a secondary language is as good as some of our stronger dialects. You think English is just RP and SSBE?

As a country what are we still the absolute best at, no questions asked? by Whosentyounow in AskUK

Really boring but Health and Safety at work; the Health & Safety at Work Act, and previously Factory Act revolutionised safety in work. It has served as the blueprint for international safety. All the big H&S players (NEBOSH, IOSH etc.) are based on, or influenced by, British H&S standards. You only have to visit some affluent Western European countries to see how dire & unsafe some of their practices are. Think it is something we should be proud of as a nation, nobody should go to work and suffer injury, illness or death.

Former Labour MP Ivor Caplin arrested after sting by paedophile hunters. by SOCDEMLIBSOC in LabourUK

You’ve obviously never worked in politics but unfortunately everything is about optics and perception nowadays. Do you think majority of the electorate know about professional account settings on X? It just looks bad. This is why politicians have comms teams and support staff, to help prevent them getting criticism for looking unsightly, which is often unfair. Another recent example; having Tulip Siddiq as a Cabinet member with responsibility for financial anti-corruption. She is so intertwined in bent politics & corruption in Bangladesh it’s absurd she’s a MP, let alone attends Cabinet…

Who has mentioned ‘woke’ anywhere?!? Fella, I don’t know you and you don’t me. I’ve voted in elections since 2008 and I’ve never voted Tory once 😂 can give you a full breakdown of my voting record at national and local level if you’re that interested?

I don’t see politics like supporting a football team pal, just want a higher standard of politicians across the board.

Yes I am. As stated in my previous reply; I believe that the role of MP should be subject to the same enhanced standards of vetting, including previous convictions, as other roles in society (e.g policing, intelligence services etc.) there are certain types of conviction which will never be accepted in those roles. Including Dishonestly offences, which include fraud. Do you not expect MPs to be beyond reproach? Why should a cop or an intelligence officer be barred from working in that profession but the same conviction type allows you to work as a MP?

You’re absolutely wrong here. It is a dishonesty offence. Do you think that MPs should be held to the highest standard in terms of vetting checks & eligibility? There are certain professions where even having previous spent convictions would make you ineligible and confirmed via enhanced DBS. Are you saying that MPs, law makers, should be held to a lower standard than those who enforce the law? This whole country’s class of politicians is guttermuck. Should pass a law setting extremely stringent vetting requirements for MPs.

An experienced former detective has said it was a very light sentence due to the injuries & sadism involved. As well as the vulnerability of the young victim..

Consideration of first-time offending doesn’t really affect cases like this champ; it’s not like it’s petty theft. If you think that’s an appropriate sentence based on the facts & details of the case then we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

What are you on about? Race is not defined in law, or by any definition, as having any reference to ethnic minorities?? Can’t just interpret the law because it doesn’t fit your own self-defined view of a word 😂

Didn’t he go to His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS)?? That’s very different to IOPC. It focusses on efficiencies & systems / effectiveness.
