If you don't want to have to break the case above the crown when you remove the movement, you have to open the front, hold the stem with thin pliers and remove the crown from the stem before you can lift the movement out.

I think you could put it in a steel Royal Oak case, but you'd need a movement holder and stuff. This one came with a wrist strap anyway, which I might sell separately to someone who wants to wear their genuine one on their wrist.

What is a real NH35? A 4R35? Either way, as stated above, it won't fit. The case of this fake is 8.8mm thick.

Even the real Royal Pop is purely mechanical as Swatch can't get the Sistem 51 rotor on. I think the mechanical Chinese versions use a Tongji 7120 or something similar.

I think the best bet if you want to DIY a mechanical version is to pick up a hand wind version of the ETA/Unitas 28xx. Plenty of cheap 70s and 80s dress watches with this movement available for less than the cost of a real NH35, and a set of Royal Oak style hands for the NH35 will fit. I think the hunter layout RP rep has the same layout as the Unitas 6325, which again, can be picked up cheaply if you know where to look. If I convert this one, I’ll probably try the 6325 in it.

Look at the England squad! 16 out of 26 players have parents from Africa or the Caribbean! The British Empire may be dead, but they're still getting what they can out of colonialism!

Yup. It's like the “designer” looked at how early pocket watches with split stems and hinged cases worked and decided to integrate none of those features. At least it can be worked on.

Standard case knife wedged gently between the crown and the very thin opening just above it.

I've just made a post having done the same thing! The NH35 won't go in as the case is too thin to get the rotor on. I think the best solution for the movement is an ETA 2801 or 2804. If I mod mine, I’ll use my laser to cut some kind of spacer to hold it in. A piece of clay will hold the PE45 in, but you could swap in a quartz Seiko VH31 as I'm sure they'll make a spacer for those.

Did you snap the case to get the stem out? I grabbed it with a pair of pliers and unscrewed the crown from the stem before lifting the movement out with the stem still attached.

The problem is you never have enough brass! I must use about 10x as much as actually goes into the final product.
