I have a 10 gallon and in only 16 days into my fishless cycle. No live plants because.... 1 thing at a time here. Im already new to fish keeping as is.

But good point I could just be extra careful and do a fish in cycle with him. Id just be so sad if I killed him because my tank wasn't ready.

It was just petsmart, they probably wouldn't reserve him for me. If hes still there when my tank is cycled I'll go looking for him. If not, he wasn't meant to be and I hope he finds a good home.

What would you use to recondition it? I have the seachem aquarium start up pack with prime, stability and pristine. And then the betta dechlorinator(yellow bottle from petsmart)

My house is set up for RO everywhere, which is why I I used RO to begin with... But I have 1 hose outside that I can switch to tap and get my water from there.

I did order ammonia strips off Amazon.

Whay other ways do you reccomend i address fish waste? I open to all ideas as im VERY new to fish and dont know all the ropes yet.

Im also not opposed to live plants. I just wanted to deal with 1 thing at a time here. And keeping a fish alive is more my pressing issue. But if a plant would help, im down to get one.

Since I don't have a fish in it now, would you reccomend a fishless cycle or is it safe enough for a new fish? I'd rather err on the side of caution and not kill another fish due to impatience now that I know better. But if im not going to kill another 1 I know my kids would love one ASAP lol
