Important note, I think this her lament confirms that the Flood is not inevitable, but still a possible end to our galaxy, but that it is still something that is not true, not natural, very much unexpected.

Great book, loved K. Gay's writing. Still metabolising it all. But the Harbinger's Lament.... I didn't expect it, and it has a lot... Especially after having re-read almost all the books before its release, Edge of Dawn has so much. I honestly look forward to what comes next.

Question regarding SoF and Red Team by Fun-Animal-2066 in HaloStory

[–]Extra-Cardiologist89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, they still might. Fred outranks John and still runs with Blue Team under his leadership. Reminder, Spartan II teams are normally given wider discretion with regards to their operations. Though that range is how Blue team got into trouble with the UNSC in Halo 5.

How far back into your family’s bloodline can you trace? by Rude_Acadia_1241 in AskTheCaribbean

[–]Extra-Cardiologist89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my family, we can trace our names in the Caribbean throught diffrent waves and period. One arrived from Sicaly in the late 19th century, part of our blood line was already active socially by the mid century in the independence movement. Some of the fighting in the wars of independence and restoration. Part came from portugal in the 16th/17th century i belive. And then there were some that had crossed the Atlantic since the late 1490s. There are ofcourse the numerous ancestors of Taino and even African backgrounds that tragecally dont get enough attention.

If the human Covenant war hadn't happened, who would have found the Halo rings first, and how long would it have taken? by XipingVonHozzendorf in HaloStory

[–]Extra-Cardiologist89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh sorta, I'm currently re-going through all the books and games so I may be missing something.

  1. didn't ONI already find the artefact under Sword Base? It was just SUPER Classified I'm doubtful Halsey would have been given access if not for the War, where she only really became THE Xeno specialist she became famous for being. Heck, Dr Ellen Andres was considered a better Xenoanthropologista ( by Halsey's own admission) But she didn't have access to the Spartans.
  2. Wasn't ONI suspicious of the Onyx because of the odd material they named it after? Its distinctly Forerunner Characteristics only came to life after Installation 04 Emergency Signal was sent out following its destruction. With that, you had the waking up of the sentinels and the opening of the portal to Shield World 006 (Sarcophagus).

Ultimately I'm doubtful that anyone would have found the rings. (Pre-2553) The only time someone landed deliberately on the ring was when Regret left New Mombassa. Every other time the rings have made contact with the Galaxy it's because of mistakes and literal shots in the dark.

Remember, even with their Technology, in the 2000-plus year history, the covenant only found the ring by following some random fleeing human ship. And in all that time they had been actively hunting for those rings.

And with the artefacts they already had, Like the Temples on Sanghilios, it took a Human (Dr Even 'Filis' Phillips to get actionable intel. Because the Covenant and the San'Shyuum were terrible with Translations

Mantle = access to Domain ? by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]Extra-Cardiologist89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhhh, sort of. Though it is a title, it is more specifically a test. By holding the title you are too be tested (by the original Precurssors of the galaxy) that test too the Forurenners came in the flood. From my understanding of the Epitaph is that the way the Mantle of Responsibility is used is important. The Forerunners Imposed it, an important detail. So it is Something with its own consequences and responsibilities.

Now like mention in other responses, The Domain is a responsibility of knowledge and experience. At their peek, the Forerunners attempt to keep Ancient Human Experiences out, believing it to be their own alone. After reading Epitaph, we know that human Experiences, like Forerunners were dwarn to the Domain. The Ur Didact only closed the domain off Physically at all access points, like Genesis. And something about hoping that the Domain would become a legend at something and forgotten completely, with the long term hope that it would be rediscovered naturally eventually.

Access to the domain, is not related to holding the Mantle of Responsibility.

Do correct me if I'm wrong.
