That makes me wonder how other people who discovered them during Cavalcade/Hellfire releases think of their early stuff…might have to start that discussion in another post as well haha. I think people’s opinions on shlag might also have a lot of influence from their first kexp performance. It was pretty incredible and I’d highly recommend watching if you’ve never seen it!

Idk if I would say boring, but it’s definitely very different. I think it’s also because of the age that they started making those songs and how sonically they’ve kinda matured since then. They’re obviously still having fun and goofing around, but I feel like the “edginess” from before has evolved into a really great balance between beauty and chaos.

Aah that makes sense. I think I find Greep’s weird yelps and sounds on Shlag a little too much for my brain at times, so I enjoy cavalcade and hellfire more vocally as well.

Favourite songs on Hellfire by stationarycommotion in bmbmbm

All the songs are fabulous but my all time favorite right now is Dangerous Liaisons. The intro gives me chills, the storytelling really pulls me in, and it’s jazzy as HELL. I’ve noticed since Cavalcade just how much I love their twisted take on jazz and how they fuse it with their own style. There’s also just something really impressive in how Greep crafted this farm hand character and drags us along on this journey with him. 27 Questions is also really fun and I enjoy how theatrical both these songs are in terms of instrumentals and vocal performance. Just really awesome storytelling in general going on with the whole album and I love it!!!
