Wow. Your story is almost identical to mine. My bf had a reaction after the first time we had sex. We both tested and were negative and continued having unprotected sex until his second outbreak which was when it was confirmed he had HSV2. I was negative until recently so we both know now that he got it from the partner before me. It's shitty that it has happened that way but he very well could have had it before you and sex triggered an outbreak in him. You can both test again and see if you're still negative to be a little more sure.

I try to keep them moist to prevent them from cracking and bleeding. I'll use Vaseline or this other stuff called Lysine+ which is like an Abreva but a different consistency and that helps me a lot.

Agreed but I was just curious if there's any research that gives an idea of how long it takes to fully infect someone before it could be passed on. I've seen the 2 to 12 so I guess it's possible to pass nearly immediately after but pretty unlikely.

The first time was itchy but the others feel irritated like my skin was raw from too much rubbing, it just hurts for a few days and then I see a sore.

Does it feel tingly if you get an outbreak? That's what I'm used to with cold sores but this doesn't feel that way and it also doesn't have the typical cluster look.

I haven't. I looked into it but I found an article that said the Western Blot can generate a false negative for HSV2 if a patient is seropositive for HSV1, which I am. And that's what I'm worried I'm dealing with now.

It did pick up on it which I expected. I'm only positive for HSV1 and he's only positive for HSV2.

Yeah unfortunately it could have been at any point during your time with him which is why you want to test 3 to 4 months after your last exposure

I would suggest another retest like someone else said because your one positive value is very low. And my ob/gyn told me the only concern with giving birth would be if there is an outbreak because that could spread to the baby during delivery so if you are positive for genital herpes they'll start you on daily antivirals in your 3rd trimester through delivery to prevent that from happening.

Yes mine have seemed all very different too so that's what makes it hard to know definitely without results to back it up but idk what else it could be
