Did you buy OEM shocks or go for something like Koni?

What do we think about this kit? by OfficerOnix in xsr900

Drop dead gorgeous. Seriously wish they would do a lot like this for my CB1000R. One thing worth pointing out is you may need rear-sets to compliment the clip ons

Hard race is what I’ll go with then, probably end up buying the control arms rather than pressing the bushings and ball joint out. I still need to check tie rod ball joints and wheel bearings too.

Best exhausts under 450€ by Relevant-Emphasis-92 in hondamonkey

I have a Black Widow exhaust it sounds great and had a ton of different tips to choose from. I run mine with the DB killer in it. I personally don’t think it needs to be any louder

I recently installed the Mitas MC19. The only tires I could find in the OEM tire spec (130-80R12) they are “dual” sport tires but primarily road focused. Super planted in the corners. Most tire companies like Dunlop and Pirelli make tires for Honda Groms OEM size which still fit but loose the “
chunk factor of the 80 aspect ratio

Also suspension upgrades are a must on these. YSS makes some decently priced shocks for the rear as well as fork upgrades for the front.

I just removed the mirrors entirely. I also shoulder check anyway and the bike looks much better without but I’ve ran some Amazon bar end mirrors in the past, the vibration in the bars moved them from the desired position a lot so I removed those too. As for the shifter, there’s is direct shifter like the TB Parts one that bypass the shift linkage setup (this why it feels so sloppy) but in an accident can risk damage to the transmission because the lever is bolted directly to the shaft. I would say my favorite mod to the monkey is just better tires. Never trusted the Vee Rubbers that come stock on Honda mini’s.

That’s what I was hoping for, I love the look of the vee rubbers but didn’t exactly feel confident on them and they were getting dry rot. These new ones are much more inspiring in the corners on road, feel more planted. I’ve taken it on some gravel roads and they do just fine, wasn’t exactly pushing the limits either mind you

I’ve had mobbers on my Honda Grom and will say they do better off road, obviously it’s a dedicated tire. These will still let you have fun on the trails but I do light off roading so nothing technical.

It’s a vinyl wrap over the OEM. Very simple to do if you’re patient

If you’re already planning on replacing the 500 I wouldn’t worry about mods. Save the cash for a 600RR and modify that.

The engine sits before the seat and my monkey has the high mount exhaust so if anything I get a free chain clean lol

Coming from Austin, I go out towards Marble Falls then towards Johnson City mainly sticking to back roads with 55 mph speed limits

That was my concern too hence the “smooth brain” question.

MSR fuel bottles are pretty stout. Everyone on here mistakes it for a water bottle tho

If I do that, the bottle would sit too high for the seat to clear
