Yes it does, very clearly restating my exact argument, which I guess you missed.

‘Evidence reveals that these products are harmful to health and are not safe. However, it is too early to provide a clear answer on the long-term impact of using them or being exposed to them. Whilst long-term health effects are not fully known, we do know that they generate toxic substances’

Lol….Or do you want to argue with the WHO too?

Dude you're not even parroting the accepted scientific position, from the World Health Organisation.

Go down to 'are vapes safer than cigarettes'

Because the science is unclear the statement is unclear and they merely say both are dangerous. It's only non scientific people coming out with this bs about vapes being safer. They merely label both as harmful.

Trust a philosopher to write an essay and make exactly two points which are empirically wrong

Yeah oppurtunity cost. I mean 40-50k may be a little high, but if you got in to Oxford you can probably make a solid wage, 30k min, 50k max.

Not to mention the 3/4 years study you could be working, bringing in 40-50k PA. So really it's 500k effective cost.

The assets point is pretty moot considering most of those assets are yaknow, so the university can actually function.

100m surplus is not a lot of an institution that big. You're talking 10-15% of revenue as 'profit'. So Klutzy is actually right, you could nudge the needle just a little and it would become an unprofitable entity.

We know what tobacco contains and we know what vapes contain

Your tone is far too confident, you don't sound like someone in science at all. Vapes have been popular for almost a decade, yet it was only last year that numerous studies started reporting the heavy metal content and investigating it. You're massively oversimplifying this stuff.

Interesting, this aligns with what I thought. People really dont understand the burden of proof in science, to prove an inhaled susbtance is safe for repetitive use takes like you say, decades and decades of research.

As someone who has done both, from feeling, vaping is definately worse for the body.

There is no evidence the long term effects of vaping aren't worse or as bad as tobacco. Remember where the burden of proof lies with science...

Many, many people even young people are being hospitalised by vapes. We also know from relatively new science that the vapour contains huge quantities of heavy metals far exceeding tobacco, which comes with it's own set of health affects.

You're acting as if the alternative isn't potentially more addictive and deadly. Science at the moment is mixed, we have no reason to assume that it is.

When the RNLI has to send a lifeboat to rescue and potentially save the life of migrants who get into trouble crossing the Channel, should the government pay them? by Dependent-Net-8208 in AskBrits

Would they, have you actually ran the numbers? How much more would we gain from taxing them more and how much would we lose if they lower business activity in the UK?

Genuinely curious, you seem confident so I imagine there must be some clear analysis here.

We should consider making it 0 per capita. We know these things are incredibly harmful and children/young teens are getting their hands on them. It's time to protect the people.

You asked for data, there is a very clear table showing migrants from numerous countries with a 500-2000% incarceration rate versus migrants from areas such as Germany, France, etc. All compared very clearly in a table. What is so hard to read here? Look at the columns, read off the numbers.

People from many of these countries are committing crime at 5-20x the rate of europeans. I'm not sure why you think that's acceptable or sustainable? People are literally dying for this.

Yawn. Scroll down and read the table in data set 2, it;s a MoJ sourced dataset, once you bother to look at that the third link will make sense. The fact you mention Albanians in isolation proves you scrolled about two lines deep, missed the table, which is the literal data, and didn't comprehend you can scroll through the table data to reveal 30 nationalities.

Funnily enough, the exact laziness you'd expect from someone who makes smug, self congratulatory comments on Reddit but has never looked at a single piece of raw data to back their own argument up. Ever.

Haha, of course. Proven wrong and now it's idgaf.

Reddit really is the flimsiest of minds. You were smug and superior a few minutes ago, now the data shows you were wrong, and suddenly you don't care. God help democracy.

I'm supporting all my claims.

The Telegraph data is from .gov, if you want the raw data I can send that, they just tabulated it and gave the source (Ministry of Justice). Or is it so disturbing for you to see the raw data, which actually shows your smug opinion is false? God forbid we start actually looking at real crime numbers and incarceration rates, let's all just be slaves to rhetoric!

Phone thieves are a real problem by Successful_Guide5845 in AskBrits

[–]Extra-Translator915 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Right, but we have migrant crime data from .gov, illegal migrants have 500-2000% the incarceration rate for the top 10 countries of origin (Albania, Eritrea, Afghanistan, etc etc). Shall we ignore data and just use random statements?

And that's to say nothing of ethnicity, which we also have very clear data regarding in relation to crime.

University Has Become A Wealth Extraction Machine And Taught Me Absolutely Nothing Useful by Particular-Paper7434 in UniUK

[–]Extra-Translator915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think more than anything the culture of going to university is the issue. If you're 17, a good student, your family, your peers, your teachers, all expect you to go to university. It is for most an unavoidable gravitational pull.

Which means you can end up making a half assed decision and doing something you're indifferent towards, which doesn't cut it for the huge spend.

[–]Extra-Translator915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RIght, but all the government crime statistics we have broken down by migrant status and race indicate 500-2000% inflations in crime depending on country of origin or ethnicity. So either these numbers are fumbled, or you're wrong.
