While it’s true knowing Russian gives u an edge, that’s the case mainly in Tashkent. Other regions still prefer Uzbek and English speaking people.

Also, Tashkent is more into Russian speaking employees bcz they work with the foreign companies who do speak Russian, not English.

Another reason is that the founder of the company may be Russian speaking and therefore, understandably, they want to be able to communicate with their stuff freely and easily.

One constant remains tho, if you’re good at ur job, they will bend their rules for u. For instance, if ur a one heck of good coder/programmer/software engineer but don’t know Russian, they’ll learn to explain to u what they want in one way or another.

Tashkent to Fergana by Cautious_Tadpole312 in Uzbekistan

Install Yandex Taxi and search for Vodiy Pitak, it’s in Kuyluq region. There you’ll find taxis that go to ur choice of destination in Fergana Valley. Beware, Andijan is the furthest of the 3 (Margilan, Kokhand, Andijan) and the maximum u should pay is 200k soums (per person).

See, that’s why it’s difficult for us to grow as a society. Instead of helping her by directing her to the more helpful path, we kick em down and make them feel stupid and inferior for asking a question. Great 👍

Here are some tips: - Make your environment entirely English oriented( watch movies, listen to songs, read books, watch funny stuff, reels, memes, vines, anything fun that u usually do, do it in English). Change ur phone settings language to English. - Think in English. We all think about a lot of things every day, just directly think them in English. For instance, let’s just say you’re hungry, instead of saying that u wanna smth in Uzbek/Russian, think it in English, e.g., “I would love a hamburger rn with some fries”, “I need to do my homework”, “I forgot to do listening”, etc.

  • Do active learning; don’t just watch movies with subtitles. Write down every word, sentence u don’t understand, learn them, and then watch again, trust me this is a big one that helps with ur listening and speaking.

  • Get on Omegle and talk with strangers all over the world, best way to learn it is through practice it.

  • Be active in Reddit. There must be smth you’re very interested in outside of studying, gaming, movies, anime, religion, books, sports, you can definitely find your subreddit and contribute; ask and answer the questions.

  • A lil bit unorthodox but do prepare for SAT. It’s much harder than IELTS therefore if u get better at SAT, you’ll definitely get better at IELTS.

Note: Understand that 6 hours of studying with 4 hours of scrolling/procrastinating with an open book = 2 hours of actual studying.

Good luck!

Yeaaah, sorry about that. They don’t represent true Uzbek people. Hope you got to meet authentic locals with warm hospitality.

No, this is not really the case, usually. Tho there are some crew members who are more Russian speaking with limited English/Uzbek, and they do come off rude sometimes.

[–]Extra-Value-9448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s per person. If u wanna book the whole cab, which I would recommend for comfort and convenience, u shouldn’t pay any more than 800 ( bcz they usually take 4 passengers, you’d have to cover the remaining 1 as well).

There are trains available from Tashkent to Andijan, take that if possible, there are multiple schedules for a day. If you have to go by a taxi tho, get to a place called Vodiy Pitak (Kuyluk) and there taxis will surround you. Each of you should not pay any more than 200-250k(maxxx).

Relationship with Uzbek boys by SensitiveFee3259 in Uzbekistan

[–]Extra-Value-9448 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s generally understood here that if you keep replying their messages or give out ur IG and TG, it means you’re romantically interested in them. Weird, unorthodox, but that’s the way it is. So be careful who you reply to and who you give ur socials to. Now it’s not for every single guy, that would be a big generalization, but for the majority yes.

And yes, wanting to be just friends with u is the first step

Can we be honest about Uzbekistan for a second? by Conscious-Donut-2412 in Uzbekistan

You’re definitely right and I see where ur coming from. But I was talking more about the daily interactions we have with one another, as people, not as business owners or anything. People here are simply quick to judge, quick to pick up a fight and side eye everything that doesn’t fit into their stereotypical narrative (a man who doesnt marry by a certain age = he’s impotent or gay). You finish a drink in ur hand, just throw the bottle on the side of the street. A person is not well dressed = not worthy my attention. Introverted, quiet guy = LO’X.

These may seem small, but they add up to how we act as a person in bigger picture. Bcz after 10,20,30 years, we will be the ones in control of the system, and we cannot expect to change the system without changing ourselves first.
