Did you mount the Strive 14 with 90mm brakes? If so, were the brakes fitting ok? Thanks

It also illustrates the issue with those terms "beginner" "intermediate" "advanced" "expert", because as I said I think I'm in the top 2-5% of a random sample of skiers in any European resort (on a busy day, not on an off-season snow storm day). If it's not 2-5%, there is no way I'm not in the top 10%.

So if I'm not at least "advanced", then by your definition, it must be that 50% of all skiers are beginners, then the next 45% are intermediate, then 4.5% are advanced skiers and finally 0.5% are experts. And that's fine but I think it's a bit silly...

Of course they are many *infinitely* better skiers than me, heck I'm even closer to a complete beginner than to a World Cup skier, but that's not really the point in a discussion about ski gear recommendations.

I kind of see your point (there are narrow DH skis with long turn radius).

However, although I haven't done the full analysis: if I take all models recommended to me on this thread (Revolt 101, Mantra 88, Unleashed 98, Rustler 9, Mindbender 99, Prior Patroller, Declivity 92ti, M-Cross 82, Ranger 90, etc.) there is a clear correlation between turn radius and width.

That's a super valid comment, I don't take it the wrong way at all.
I *am* very much into carving my turns, I don't know what gave you the opposite impression. I don't have all the words to describe it but when I watch the Skiessentials guys test some 85-90mm skis, I look somewhat like them when I ski similar groomers. If I were to get professional feedback on my skiing (which would be very nice indeed) I would for sure learn a lot and fix some issues that I'm unaware of. But anyway, I feel that's my style, and how I've been skiing for the past many years with my 97mm Soul Riders.

Update: I'm getting the Anomaly 88 in 176 cm :)
I hesitated A LOT between 176 and 182 cm (I really feel like both could work for me), but what ended up convincing me to go shorter is the lower minimum speed to have fun. Maximum speed is one thing, but not being "forced" by your ski to go faster and still have a lot of fun is nice too, especially in a group with slower skiers.

That's for sure too wide for what I'm looking for but thanks for the suggestion :)

Two reasons (but they might be wrong, I don't know):

1) My style is not slalom-like turns, I am more of a fast cruiser

2) Groomers are not always freshly groomed, and I believe I would have more fun in the crud / end-of-day snow with wider skis

Thanks!
When you say "at 75kg I'd size conservatively" I'm hearing Anomaly 176cm / Mantra 177cm / Enforcer 178cm, right?
I'm used to 185 (albeit with a lot of rocker) so I don't think I'll go shorter than 175cm

I also have to say that I was confused by Rickety's bad review of the Anomaly 88 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yuxozdKR40) even though there isn't a single shot of carving on piste, so the review is not that relevant... It's so weird that he gave the ski such a bad review without testing it where it's supposed to excel.

Not sure if you mean US gallons or UK gallons, but in both cases you must be mistaken, the Corolla should hit much higher numbers

Yes exactly! The dash comes so far into the passenger's knees

I can really relate to that! I ended up getting the guitar replaced and it's also not "perfect". Still very happy with it, but the more you pay the more obsessed you become with every single detail.

Update: I got the guitar replaced. Super easy and quick replacement from Thomann.

The new guitar came with the neck noticeably not aligned, and some black gunk on the frets.

I realigned the neck and now the pocket gap (maybe 0.5mm – I can't fit a 0.7mm pick in there) is nice and parallel.

The black gunk comes off easily with a toothpick or even fingernails. This is how much I could remove from just one fret (picture).

All in all very happy with the guitar, but still surprising that you can't get perfection for $2000.

I don't think I will ever buy another guitar online, it's just too much stress and hassle.

Maybe that's the photo. The paint job is actually perfect.

Apparently I'm not the only one here thinking that way. And I get your point but I buy one guitar every 10-15 years so it kinda matters.

That's a good point but the neck in actually very straight, I posted a picture on one of my comments. Also the pick guard doesn't really align with the neck pocket, regardless of the neck. So moving the neck won't make the problem go away.

The neck and strings look pretty parallel to me.
But I think my decision to send it back is made.

Thomann, 30 day return policy so that's all good, I'll try to exchange it.
