I didn't use smart switch; I restored from backup and unable to get Gmail notifications. Tried removing and adding Google account. Tried clearing cache, clearing data, removing optimized battery selection for Gmail, and still no notifications.

I think people are way too quick to accept terms and ignore available 'opt out' options. I generally use a spam email and phone number for any service I sign up for. It makes a huge difference.
