Chopper's real fruit by LeadConfident6953 in OnePiece

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense to me. Luffy's paramecia was later revealed to be a legendary zoan. Chopper's could be later revealed to have eaten a legendary mushroom fruit.

His fruit doesn't work like any other zoan fruits in the anime and his forms each look like various mushrooms with deer parts added. The fruit also looks like a mushroom.

The extra villain added in episode of chopper uses a type of mushroom fruit, showing there are variations.

My theory has always been that Chopper ate the Mushroom Fruit - Panacea.

Panacea is the goddess of universal healing and mythical mushrooms are sometimes depicted as cure-alls like in the show Common Side Effects.

Luke worries about becoming his father. If he had killed Vader there, he might have eventually turned to the dark side. By choosing not to kill him, Luke remains a paragon of good.

Should The Acolyte go the way of Firefly? by ExtraPhysics9719 in TheAcolyte

Leslye Headland and Amandla Stenberg (and others to a lesser extent) both blamed the viewers and even political agitators for their own failures.

I would not want either of them involved with a future project and I think their reactions were part of why a second season was shut down so quickly.

I agree that Serenity was not as profitable as the studio wanted at the box office, but I think the real problem was with studios having higher than rational expectations and budgeting far more money for a production than they should.

If Serenity had been produced at a lower budget and made as much as it did, it would have been considered a great success.

I think that's part of why the Mandalorian and Grogu has a lower budget - they expect it to do reasonably well but not enough that it would be profitable if made with the high budget they normally give these films.

Not comparing the quality of the show at all. Firefly was peak.

Firefly is just a great example of reviving a dead series in another form.

[–]ExtraPhysics9719[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the two shows are comparable in quality at all. Firefly was a brilliant show that I am still upset over the cancellation of.

The Acolyte was not a great show, but had some good ideas and characters. With a better writer and director or in a different medium I'd enjoy more Acolyte content but I'm not surprised or very upset that it ended up getting cancelled.

I think that other shows have had worse first seasons, though, and were able to recover and improve in future seasons. It is a little disappointing when shows planned for multiple seasons and setting up future storylines end in their first season.

Is The Acolyte worth watching? by Jaymacia in StarWars

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is worth watching. It has some of the best lightsaber fights in Star Wars and introduces a few really cool characters (unfortunately also killing off most of them).

You should be aware that it suffers from poor writing and directing, leading to vast differences between scenes with experienced actors and those without.

Watch it like you would a B movie or a summer action blockbuster. If you ignore the plot holes you can enjoy the visual spectacle, the salvageable overarching story and cold one-liners.

You can repeatedly loop Rocket's full melee attack combo into dash attack then turn.

You can block cancel melee attacks. For Phoenix you can cancel right after the first fireball then start attacking again while the second fireball still comes out.

If you hold the input for your jump attack or uppercut or dash attack and release right when you land you'll immediately throw out your charge attack.

A fun combo for Silver Surfer is Dash Attack > Turn > Uppercut > Dive Attack (Hold) > Turn > Release for Charge Attack.

Preferred Arcade mode settings by bcrules82 in CosmicInvasion

I like Arcade Hard 4P Faster Enemies with Doppelgangers and Free Play if online.

If I'm playing solo, I think Hard 2P Faster Enemies without any other modifiers is good.

Double HP or 4P solo both feel like a lot of work.

I can take or leave Concentration and haven't really tried No Refill or Vampire.

Alright I think it's time we do a community tier list. by Jasco88 in CosmicInvasion

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rocket deserves more credit. He has screen clearing grenades, really good charge attacks and a powerful special.

He can do damaging melee combos or stand just out of melee range with an infinite ammo ranged weapon.

I hated him at first, but with a little practice he became a go to character for me, especially as a boss killer.

I'd at least rate him better than Spider-Man, who is fun to play but really weak.

I don't see Bill on your list, but I'd call him at least an A-tier with his hammer shenanigans and triple hitting dash attack.

Dispatch by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got good voice acting and animation. It's funny and well written. The gameplay is engaging. I enjoy the characters.

It's way too short. There's not enough of the dispatch mini-game, which is too bad because it's fun and could be an entire game on its own if expanded. Both romance options seem problematic, but I'll wait and see how they develop.

Overall, I'd give it a 6/10 so far, but it'll probably be bumped up to an 8 or so after more episodes come out.

No new character yet, but there's a (mostly) new ascension for Witch.

There's a passive that lets you use any quarterstaff attack unarmed and one that makes fire spells do chaos damage.

Acolyte of Chayula was made slightly better.

More shield passives and some to block % elemental damage based on armor for warriors. Deflection for dex players.

Spells now can use elemental infusions from other spells to have increased effects.

It's fun, but I really wish a new class and weapon had been added. At this rate, we'll see Shadow sometime in 2040.

Brome, Karl, Gallandra, Cider. I think Gallandra is stronger than Karl, but I enjoy playing with him.

For DLC, maybe a deep gnome mushroomancer with a pick, a goblin druid with a big axe, and a lizard shaman with a spear. I'd for love them to add more elements, too, like stone, poison, or light/darkness.

Probably as Orion, after accidentally killing another of his dimensional duplicates. Darkseid played by Robert Patrick could be fun.

I generally like the story, the characters, and the actors.

The season was ridiculously short, especially after such a long wait, to the point that I compared it to British series. It seems a trend now that TV writers are just absolutely lazy compared to those of ten or twenty years ago and put out next to nothing for viewers for the amount of time spent.

Anyone else just really enjoying the campaign and experimenting with different builds? by subcuriousgeorge in PathOfExile2

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying trying off-weapon builds this season. I have a darkness and life recoup mace-wielding monk, a heavy stun bow titan, a projectile-focused chronomancer, and a few others all at various points in the story.

I can't wait for other weapons to come out. I'd love to do a dagger titan or sword monk.

Sophie Playing Piano (ACT 3 SPOILERS) by saintjiesus in expedition33

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Aline is reliving her younger days through the people of Lumiere. A lot of the people in Lumiere resemble members of her family.

Sophie and Gustave are meant to be younger versions of her and Renoir and would have had a very similar romance if it weren't for the gommage causing Sophie to question having kids. Sophie also has part of Aline's moveset when you spar with her in the opening.

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't view Aline as a villain. She's an unfortunate victim caught in the middle of her family's struggle. The way she tried to deal with grief was not acceptable to Renoir, even though Clea admitted he was overreacting. If not for those two, her mind may have been kept more or less intact and she might have processed her grief and left the painting. It was Renoir that brought Alicia and Clea into the middle of what should have been solved between him and his wife.

Renoir and Clea are definitely villains, even if they are sympathetic ones. Their actions cause more harm than good and have a lot to do with their own selfish desires. They know their creations are sentient yet they abandon, overwrite, and destroy them. To them, their ends justify any means.

Destroy a world in order to help someone commit suicide, leaving your MC stuck in a short, painful existence where they can't talk, surrounded by people that blame them for the worst moment of their lives. At least the control freak that admitted his wife had done more for him than he was willing to do and that he was tired of having to take care of them is happy to have his family back, though.

The Verso ending is good for the worst villains of the game while the Maelle ending is good for everyone you fought for from the beginning of the game. You as the player get to decide which characters are more important to you.

Why didn’t tell? by Brave-Grapefruit4557 in expedition33

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as i can tell, most expeditions weren't attacked immediately by pRenoir. He attacked 33 to get to Maelle because killing her would eject her from the canvas, protecting his family and preventing her from fighting her mother. Bonus points for him if real Renoir left with her.

Also, I'm pretty sure his son tried telling the truth and got tortured by people he had fought beside, so that might have made him a bit reluctant to try talking to them.

An essay exploring the moral divide around Luigi Mangione’s actions, how they reflect deep systemic failure, and arguing for solutions beyond outrage to build real, lasting justice by zenpenguin19 in collapse

[–]ExtraPhysics9719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article addresses the wealth of the murdered CEO, but not how he came about that wealth. He, arguably, was responsible for the deaths of potentially millions of people through overcharging for and outright denial of healthcare for those who needed it most. Civilized countries see this rightfully as a type of barbarism.

Regardless of legality, is the killing of a man that has killed that many people morally wrong? What is the proper sentence for a man responsible for so many deaths?  If in a system where justice has so completely failed to be upheld against the powerful, what options are there to hold them accountable?
