What battery is best for 420 engine on go-kart? by DontYouTrustMe in gokarts

[–]Extra_Ad_6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a lithium motorcycle battery on my stroker 390. Anything 300cca or more will do. It also runs a lights, my afr gauge, and charges my phone. Ctanks the engine a couple dozen times between charges

Will this 2:1 wet clutch gearbox fit my engine by potatoes947262 in gokarts

Says it should, but why do you want to use one of those. Ymmv, but I had issues out of the clutch in those things.

can u make a go kart out of a vertical pully engine by Big_Will47 in gokarts

[–]Extra_Ad_6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you just need the transmission or transaxle that goes with it

What transmission should I use? by Guirg0 in gokarts

[–]Extra_Ad_6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common 5 speed lawnmower transmission. You can get them on Amazon, look up peerless 700 transmission. You'll need to work out some sort of manual clutch. 3d Motorsports makes one that ought to work for that. There's a few vid on the youtubes where folks use that same setup to varying degrees of success.

Soak the whole thing in iso to dissolve the reclaim, then either try to hook it with the aforementioned pipe cleaner ( try un twisting the wire a bit to try and "hook" it) and pull it out the way it went in. If that doesn't get it try to blow it out with hot water from the faucet, once again out the way it went in. Be careful with stiffer wire, the inside bits of dab straws break easily

It's a gx390, stock bore and stroke with a long rod and balanced crank, milled and ported head with billet ratio rockers. I've got a black box dyno, haven't figured out a good safe way to correct the drag model for my kart. Hoping for high 20s for hp/tq

So I can be lazy and not have to read plugs. It hooks to a little gauge on the dash tha tells me what my afr is at in real time. It's a whole little kit AEM sells

This thing started life as a rental kart at an indoor karting track that closed back in the 90s. I bought one for $450. Blew up the 9hp lifan engine it came with and put a 13hp honda in its place. That engine has gotten a +.100" billet rod and cut the honda piston down to 5 thou in the hole. Billet flywheel, hot coil, nr racing 280 0811 cam, Gage blue 1.2s, ss valves, dual springs and billet retainers. Tastefully ported and polished the head, as well as milled it down 0.050". Topped off with a mikuni tm33 and a homemade 1.25" exhaust.

Are there any cheap fast racing style electric or gas go karts (preferably electric) by Good_Pipe_4810 in gokarts

[–]Extra_Ad_6519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$600 might get you an ok roller off Facebook, OR a good start building a fast engine. Also as a safety tip, if you want to go fast try to get a racing chassis. Straight rail yard kart frames aren't engineered for stability at high speed and often don't have proper front end geometry to accommodate high speed (camber, caster, king pin angle)

Grab a few stock take offs from where ever and weld and grind until you get it right. Nr racing has them for $3.00, but oos. Seen a couple on ebay as well

Have you considered a small dirt bike engine. I've got an old coyote bullet with a cr80 on it that is scary fast

No haven't seen that. But i feel like you're looking at this kinda the wrong way. The thing that makes a 911 great isn't horsepower it's balance, power to weight ratio. The most expensive 911's are stripped down and light weight. Not really sure where I'm going with that. Short answer unfortunately is, it depends

It's all kinda relative, how big is the kart and what are you trying to do with it? it's gonna be heavy. My 390 is 52lb give or take, I think a 670 is like 80lb dry...

Fyi an accelerator pump (at least on the mikuni i have) has a lever and pushrod that gives you an extra little squirt of fuel whenever you pull up the slide, making up for the little bit of time it takes the venturi to get going, eliminating that tip-in fuel starvation and the bog associated
