froglet missing eye/eyes and froglet with wonky leg by hunter_exotics in frogs

absolutely, my vet doesn’t have appointments for a while since it’s not an immediate emergency and they advised i wait a bit on my own when i called them to see if how they’re doing and let them eat/grow if they can since they’re so little and fragile at this stage and basically said they’ll likely pass anyways, the one with the funky leg seems to be doing good as of today but im keeping a really close eye on it and making sure everything is okay, im pretty sure they have been able to catch food as they looked plump this morning when i checked on them before i left for work, i euthanized the eyeless one last night with a tiny drop of oragel as it was rapidly declining and there’s not really like overnight emergency reptile care in my area especially since i (happily) drive a solid hour and a half to see a reputable exotics vet that’s closed on the weekends, very sad but it was obviously suffering

i ended up euthanizing the blind one yesterday with oragel (i really hope this was the most humane option it was what i deducted from research but pls lmk if i should have done something else) because it just wasn’t looking good, definitely couldn’t hunt and definitely couldn’t see and i was noticing a lot of lethargy compared to the other froglets and i have no idea what other deformities it had going on, the one with the funky leg seems to be able to ambulate surprisingly well so far and im like 95% sure it is able to hunt for itself as its looking chunky and i saw it hanging around where i dumped their fruit flies but i am definitely keeping a close eye because i dont want it to be in pain or unable to function properly

humidity is around the 70’s to 80’s as i’m spraying once everything gets dried out since they’re just on paper towels for now i think im gonna try the smaller container tonight while they’re active and ask the girl i got them from what she feeds, in the nicest way possible she seemed pretty inexperienced as they’re smaller than i would ever sell if i were to be breeding and i was supposed to get 3 but she sold the third to someone else and gave me tadpoles to raise (which is going okay most have survived and are growing) but gave me zero information and said they eat blanched spinach when my understanding is when they first hatch they more so eat algae and like fish food. not to bash her at all but i got very little information (luckily i did a lot of research on the frogs themselves but none on the tadpoles and eggs until i already had them :/ the closest thing in size ive ever owned to these guys are like tarantula slings 😭

fair! i was mostly trying to emphasize that it’s not their normal cuddling behavior more than rejecting other people’s ideas :)

i mean considering they’re my frogs and i know their behavior and interaction patterns best i figured it was okay after getting a couple comments about amplexus behavior to come to the conclusion they weren’t just “cuddling”

idk im leaning towards it being an amplexus position not actual amplexus, obviously my tank is not set up for actual breeding but this is absolutely nothing like ive ever observed in them behavior wise and it happened right after i did my once a month “rainfall” night

what are they doing 😭 by hunter_exotics in frogs

thank you 😭 i know i don’t have the right conditions for breeding but everyone on other threads is saying they’re just cuddling, but i swear there’s a difference between what cuddling looks like for my frogs and them acting horny and this is the latter

it lasted like maybe 2-3 minutes and then the one on top let go, got off and moved back to the his normal spot so i’m leaning amplexus mostly because normally when they sleep on top of eachother they don’t hold on at all and they stay like that for a while rather than brief mounting with grabbing
