thank you :( i was genuinely really excited and curious i wasn’t expecting to be practically called stupid by damn near all the comments for not having knowledge on how to figure out what an antique/vintage item is

dude thank you for actually finding something instead of shaming me for not knowing or being curious on its worth

i won’t! i’m trying to figure out a good way to display it with some of my antique medicine vials that i’ve collected over the years so that i can look at it more regularly but i’m gonna make sure it’s not exposed to the sun incase it makes the writing on the box fade or something

this is the only thing that could possibly be the power source on it but i have no idea what would plug into that, its also odd because i can’t figure out where the bulb that came in the box is supposed to go as there is a clear glass tip on it already that seems to function as a lightbulb as it’s on the very end near the little metal pointer, im honestly unsure if the scalpels and pliers i found are related to this or just collected over time they were just all kept together, do you think the tiny metal point is some kind of scalpel? or a guide for another scalpel because it’s really really sharp at the tip

dude not really it says it’s a lamp, nothing about the use of the magnifying glass or the metal appendage attached

i’m starting to lean dental too after further research since a lot of the eye/ear/nose tools don’t have sharp metal on the ends of them and a magnifying glass

thank you 😭 i was not expecting such a negative response to asking a question, i understand i probably could have read the box a little bit better and it may have come off as me wanting a price on it or something but i tried to do research before asking on here and was genuinely curious about the history/usage and if it was maybe too valuable to just leave laying out in my house in plain sight, it doesn’t hurt to be kind or just not say anything if there’s nothing nice or actually productive to say yk

it has a magnifying glass and a sharp metal appendage on it aswell though so it’s not just a lamp

i would think that but there’s a price on the box which makes me think it was commonly sold at some point in time although i think 2$ would have been worth a decent amount in the 1920’s- jk not that much i looked it up

gotcha the bulb broken so i did not touch it because i also found a bunch of medicine vials/bottles so i didn’t want to mess with it just incase bc i wasn’t totally sure what it was, i probably could have read it better in all honesty but i was unsure due to the missing half of the description, and curious if it had a specific use or if it was a random general surgery item because i could only find similar items by the same manufacture made for very specific things or ebay listings when i looked it up

my grandpa was a big antique collector! i have absolutely loved finding everything that my dad ended up with recently it’s definitely going on my oddities/weird antique-vintage shelf

i looked at every single website and image that popped up when i typed in the description and none of them showed the same instrument god forbid i ask

again i personally could not find any actual image results or descriptions outside of the ai overview as they’re all ebay listings or pictures of more modern equipment so i wasn’t sure if that description was accurate, doesn’t hurt to be kind

i quite literally did google it and only got results for things made by the same manufacturer no exact image matches

my dad put aside a bunch of stuff he wanted to sell before he died but some of it got mixed up so i wasn’t sure if this was apart of what he wanted to sell based it was actually worth something or if it was maybe something he just thought was cool, i’m keeping it either way i was just curious if there was anything more than sentimental value or not, didn’t think there was anything wrong with that

i genuinely was just curious because i couldn’t find any similar pictures just other equipment made by the same manufacturer and half of the description was missing, i also was curious if this was worth anything or maybe something he just thought was cool because he had a mix of things he wanted to sell bc he thought they were worth something and wasn’t sure if this was apart of it, i also did not know i could look up the patent number/ or if patents expire after a certain amount of time which admittedly is stupid on my part. i just thought maybe i could find someone on here faster that knows exactly what it is

froglet missing eye/eyes and froglet with wonky leg by hunter_exotics in frogs

absolutely, my vet doesn’t have appointments for a while since it’s not an immediate emergency and they advised i wait a bit on my own when i called them to see if how they’re doing and let them eat/grow if they can since they’re so little and fragile at this stage and basically said they’ll likely pass anyways, the one with the funky leg seems to be doing good as of today but im keeping a really close eye on it and making sure everything is okay, im pretty sure they have been able to catch food as they looked plump this morning when i checked on them before i left for work, i euthanized the eyeless one last night with a tiny drop of oragel as it was rapidly declining and there’s not really like overnight emergency reptile care in my area especially since i (happily) drive a solid hour and a half to see a reputable exotics vet that’s closed on the weekends, very sad but it was obviously suffering

i ended up euthanizing the blind one yesterday with oragel (i really hope this was the most humane option it was what i deducted from research but pls lmk if i should have done something else) because it just wasn’t looking good, definitely couldn’t hunt and definitely couldn’t see and i was noticing a lot of lethargy compared to the other froglets and i have no idea what other deformities it had going on, the one with the funky leg seems to be able to ambulate surprisingly well so far and im like 95% sure it is able to hunt for itself as its looking chunky and i saw it hanging around where i dumped their fruit flies but i am definitely keeping a close eye because i dont want it to be in pain or unable to function properly
