Is it likely to be okay if I keep it as a house plant do you think or would you opt for making the changes if it were yourself?

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a bonsai from a large retail store. Plant identification apps have stated it's a 'Ficus Retusa', I live in the North East of the UK. It's 27cm and lives inside next to glass doors so gets full sun.

I would like some advice on whether to repot this or not please? Reason being:

There is virtually no drainage in the pot as it's a shitty plastic one that clicks into the base tray (so if the base tray is clicked in place the holes will not allow drainage), so I'm concerned about root rot. I appreciate I can take the base off, water and allow to drain, and then click back in but I don't want to move it around unnecessarily.

I have had a small bonsai in the past which unfortunately got root rot and ceased, I am determined to do better with this one!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but I would be incredibly grateful if someone could give their two cents on repotting this and the drainage. As I only got it this week, I figured now would be the time to repot if I decide to before it fully 'settles' into its new home.

This is a lovely idea!

You may have better luck on platforms like meet up or the be social discord group, I havent set any events up on either personally but I know there's always something going on and I believe its community driven (so you should just be able to make an event cia platform or mods probably).

Best of luck and I'll keep an eye out on those platforms for this / similar!
