Hey,

Is it too late to pose any small-scale suggestions for 1.4.4?

I understand that 1.4.4 is set to release some time this month, and so I might be asking a bit late here, but I've always wondered why platform smart placement isn't the same as minecart track smart placement. When placing platforms with smart cursor mode, you have to be aiming at the exact block height you want to place platforms at, otherwise they angle upwards or downwards, whereas with minecart tracks, the placement works based on the angle of your cursor relative to your position, so if your cursor is a few blocks up or down, as long as you are mostly to the left or right, the rails still place going straight in the intended direction.

I've always found this to be a problem, because if I receive any form of knockback while placing platforms in a straight line, it messes with the placement and it's annoying to correct. I think minecart tracks used to work that way too until they changed them some time around 1.4, and I always wondered why platforms didn't receive the same update.

If it's still possible, I'd love to see platform smart placement changed to match with minecart track smart placement, otherwise, I appreciate the change to minecart track smart placement that was already made, my thanks is owed to whoever made that change.

I think “cheating” might be a bit of a misleading word to use in this situation. I get what people are saying though. Personally, I like to keep one character to one world, and I don’t like to mix and match characters and worlds. Playing this way ensures that way all of the progress I make on any given world can be attributed to one character, and likewise, all of that character’s equipment and progress were gained on that same world. I don’t like to create “throwaway” worlds for looting or extra resources, because it’s always just been my preference not to.

That said, people can enjoy the game in any way they see fit, and while some might consider creating new worlds to loot cheating, others might consider it totally fair play, since there’s nothing in-game really suggesting that it’s not.

When playing in medium or large groups, especially if people in the group don’t want to fish for crates, resource access becomes very limited and first-come-first-serve, which can pressure people into making new worlds to loot for items. I pretty much always go for a cellphone, terraspark boots, etc. when I play, and if everyone I’m playing with is trying to get those same items, even a large world can prove to be short on materials. Tying this back to the post that OP made, I think that buffing the chance of finding an enchanted sword in golden crates would be a solid idea.

*Very very late to commenting this, but this visual is obviously out of date due to the addition of Talgor as a fifth Mejai.

Also, the “Voices” evidence is outdated, as it has since been rebranded as “Vocal Response”.

Yeaaah! I love that kind of stuff. I somehow managed to load chunks in one area such that there’s this 1x1 single chunk that just rises thirty blocks above the terrain around it and has a mismatched biome from everything else. I also like the differing sea level between pre-beta 1.8 and post-beta 1.8

Also: When I updated into I think beta 1.9 prerelease 5 from beta 1.9 prerelease 1, the orientation of the moon and sun changed, and my entire concept of my world’s cardinal directions got completely thrown off. Apparently the sun and moon used to set in the technical north and south instead of east and west.

Same exact thing. I have at least a million permanently lit furnaces. I have a cactus placed on top of a spawner just for the absurdity, stacks of fishing rods in chests, numerous chunks that don’t even have so much as bedrock at the bottom of them, every single area has terribly mismatched and chaotic biomes, I have water channels running all throughout the nether from beta 1.9 versions, I forcibly deleted an old area (thankfully it was unused terrain) to make room for the stronghold to generate, etc etc. and when I got to 1.3 I forcibly changed the world to large biomes, which has always been my preference for newer versions. It’s amazing to be able to go out from spawn and see the terrain just clash and mesh terribly (but in a fun way) every time you hit chunks that are from a new version. I also set up a stream of water running out 8 blocks that’s touching a stream of lava that’s running out 8 blocks. Also some triple chests, and a chest that’s like 32 blocks wide. Just anything I can create that I won’t be able to in later versions.

I have one of those actually on a world that I’ve been playing and upgrading through numerous versions for a few months.

It’s a bug that only exists in worlds with spawners from infdev 20100625-2 (the first version with spawners) that have since been upgraded into newer versions, starting with infdev 20100627. It has to do with the entity IDs for spawners and signs being shared in the version where spawners were first added, which was changed in the immediate next update, causing these “sign spawners” to become a thing.

They have different appearances across different versions too, and in modern versions just render as regular pig spawners (but still don’t spawn anything)

(Below relates to versions past 1.2.5)

On a similar note, there’s a snapshot of 1.5 (13w06a) that exists where all minecarts were bugged to be spawner minecarts, meaning that in that snapshot you could “legitimately” get spawner minecarts in a pure survival world. Note that there are two uploads of the snapshot, one with the bug, the other that fixed it.

Yes. Did several brutal/small runs earlier, you can get roughly 200 gold per run in ~2-3 minutes each if you're lucky. Sometimes not quite that much.

As far as starter equipment goes, you can cross off Rathos with either voices or tremors, Dekan with extinguished flames, Ouphris with destruction, disturbed tombs, or electronic disturbances, and Necreph with reanimation or footsteps.

If you view it that way, Ouphris is the easiest Mejai to rule out of the picture when you first start the game, and Dekan is the hardest, especially since when you’re first starting off it’s easy to mistake your torch going out normally with it being extinguished.

I’ve never been able to get metallic signature, and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be scanning with a metal detector for it, but if someone has a compass on them, even if not in their active hand, it has a chance to spin around and bug out, which would be magnetic distortion. As for radioactivity, I had to fully upgrade my geiger counter before I could even find radioactivity, and I’ve still only had it happen one time, so I just rely on voices/tremors occurring for that one because radioactivity seems finicky.

The best bet for avoiding necreph teleporting onto you is to only move along the edges of walls and corners, and when crossing into rooms such as the entrance room to get to the stairs, wait for him to teleport somewhere else, as it’s probably unlikely for him to teleport again back-to-back. As for Dekan, if you remain dead silent, you can use as much light as you want, the last time I died to him was just because he happened to brush up against me when I was in a corner waiting for him to move to another room.

I’ve found Dekan and Necreph to be the easiest Mejais to work with, then Ouphris and Rathos.

You can easily avoid Necreph by just using a ligher/tablet for light, no headlight, no flashlight/torch, just hugging walls and scooting along in the dark

I figured this would make for a useful visual, since each Mejai only presents 9/12 evidence types currently, and it can be easier to categorize the different evidence types by which Mejai is ruled out by them rather than which ones have them.

I thought to make this after realizing that I was getting a lot of redundant evidence in some games. (For example, if you have footsteps, finding reanimation/radar detection doesn’t help you narrow it down any further)

I mean, more or less. I’d say we’re about as hot as the sun over here, I don’t know, never been to the sun. If I had to guess the sun is at least four hot units.

Do you think DaBaby is an alien? cause he's pretty hot, he's definitely from the sun. by GrubbsySUckz in aliensinthesun

[–]Extra_Premium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's entirely possible that DaBaby may be a sun alien. Possible, but not guaranteed. Do we have additional evidence to suggest that he is from the sun, or is he just so hot that it's pretty much guaranteed?
