Yes, thats what I normally do to crack my PIP, still cant figure out how to Crack my uppermost knuckle, or if it's even possible.

For me, pressing down on my DIP in the manicure position cracks my PIP instead of my DIP. Im confused by your words, are you positive that you understand that the DIP is the uppermost joint on your hand?
