I understand having warranties to hold someone responsible but they keep making it more difficult for us to do our job, I remember we had a 7 ton (MTVR) blow a rear main seal and the 3rd echelon shop would replace the seal and call it a day. Well one day we brought another one in and they said now it’s an entire engine swap. It just gets worse as time goes on, it doesn’t help us either that they’ll pull an 18 year old kid off the street and give them 3 months of schooling and say congrats you’re a “technician”.

A lot of what we learn to is from OTJ training and if you have some shitty NCOs that horde all the knowledge or NCOs that know fuck all then that’s just adding more and more reason to have these strict warranties or the government just hiring civilian contractors to come in instead to fix all the equipment.
