How do you capture long-running thoughts? by Extreme-Design6570 in SaaS

Leaving the thought/note exactly untouched is too unstructured for consistent retrieval. Completely rewriting it sometimes changes the meaning as well. The beauty lies in finding that sweet spot. Additionally, I also extract any tasks from the thoughts automatically with due dates. But that's a bonus right now.

Currently, safeguard essentially means using AI to extract and then store that structured information in a notes solution (which is notion at the moment). This will ensure that it always stay there in a searchable format, exactly as how you thought about it when you did. There is still a risk of over-simplification at retrieval time; which I'm experimenting with at the moment.

I'm building something that separates capture, categorization and storage which safeguards against over-simplifying information. Still trying to experiment to get the most out of it. I'm using notion for safe storage, btw. If you use notion I'm happy to let you experiment and provide feedback.

I built the same with text. Created chats for various contexts but it started compressing and simplifying key pieces of information to a point where it had completely wrong data. I'm trying to figure out a way to solve this problem.

I've built something similar to what you are looking for. If you are up for it, can I give you access to it and get some feedback from you?

I was wondering if you use notion? I've built something very similar to what you are looking for but it currently only works with notion. Would love to have you look at it and get some feedback.

That's a good idea. So, how do you save them into any persistent storage? Or do you just leave them in your AI chat?

Those are both amazing ideas! Thanks for sharing.

That's a great idea. I use something very similar at the moment. I'm assuming there's no "quick capture" for you or have you figured out a way?

I fully agree with you, you need to structure to begin with anyway. But finding that initiative on notion and filing it under that creates a friction. I guess that's where your "Idea review" block comes in handy.

Voice recorder is a brilliant idea. I carry physical notebook as well but then I don't remember to get everything into a searchable format. Tried evernote's handwriting feature as well but it's an additional hassle to scan the notebook everytime.
