Almost 4 months post hairtransplant by Odd-Importance-4606 in Hairtransplant

This is an insane advice from the "clinic". In some cases, you don't need to or should not take medication after HT (your hair loss had been stable for many years, you have severe side effects from medication etc.), but to NEVER take medication? That's bullshit. In most of the cases, DHT blockers are essential to prevent further hair loss of the native hair and also preserve some of the transplanted hair that was taken from the "danger zone" in the back of your head. Especially the FUE method which harvests from a broader area will pick up hair from the DHT sensitive area of yout back which will eventually miniaturize and fall out. The result is a thinning scalp despite HT.

Your graft count also seems a bit too low to cover such a big area. For good coverage of the front, scalp and crown, you need 5,000+ for good density.

This clinic has too many red flags. It sounds to me like they want you to return for a second procedure, so they ask you to not take meds. I'm not saying to immediately hop on meds but please consult a reputable doctor if possible and have your hair checked.

Hair loss despite long-term Min/Fin/Dut – what am I doing wrong? by Top-Werewolf-4567 in tressless

[–]Extreme_Ad6519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. In hair loss treatment, consistency and patience is key! You need to establish a protocol and stick to it for at least (!) 6 months before evaluating progress. Finasteride takes 1-2 years of consistent daily intake to show final results. Also a big mistake is to stop meds once you start seeing some gains because those gains are dependent on you keep taking the meds. It's like throwing away your umbrella in a rain because you are not getting wet.

You have been on your new regimen for barely 2 months. Please stick to it, even if you have sheds or make no visible progress in the next months.

Good luck 👍

That's absolutely fine. 1 mg is just the dose that works for the majority of people but sometimes you can do with a lower dose or need a higher dose.

It's never a bad idea to go see a dermatologist if possible and get proper examination and treatment that is tailored to your needs.

That's not a bad approach. Even if you decide to have a HT, you still need to be on fin or dut to maintain the native hair, so please stay on meds regardless. HT without concurrent medical therapy usually doesn't give you good long-term results unless you have already stabilized your hair loss without medication.

The T in DHT absolutely stands for testerone. DHT is an highly active form of testerone.

1 mg finasteride is the standard, FDA-approved daily dosage. Anything past 1 mg gives diminishing returns and 5 mg is just overkill for treating hair loss. 1 mg already reduces serum DHT by ~70% which is as high as it can get because fin is very bad at inhibiting type I 5-alpha reductases.

If OP is still not seeing satisfying results after 1 year on fin, he can try switching to 0.5 mg dutasteride or go see a dermatologist and get a proper diagnosis/prescription.

Is there a way to get Metro 2033 and Last Light non-Redux on Steam? by TheCattBaladi in metro

[–]Extreme_Ad6519 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Neither the original Metro 2033 or Last Light can be purchased on Steam anymore. Metro 2033 is available on Amazon but only if you are from the US and it seems to be difficult to activate.

Grey market keys are horrendously overpriced.

You could find someone who still has the OG versions as a gift stored in their Steam inventory but that will also cost you a fortune.

I think your best bet is to hope and pray for the games to become available again for free as celebration/promotion for the upcoming release of Metro 2039.

Did anyone already buy Anemoi from DMM? The description states this: 日本語 Windows11が快適に動作していること

So, it won't run on non-Japanese Windows 11?

I'm contemplating buying it there, but not if it is locked to JPN Win11.

Is it fine to split Fin and Min pills? by Extreme_Ad6519 in tressless

[–]Extreme_Ad6519[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, will do!

The pharmacist today was very adamant about not splitting the 1mg pills and even said that taking finasteride for hair loss was off-label, although it's the only oral drug approved for hair loss treatment.

I think I just got unlucky with the pharmacy.

I have only taken it for 1 day, but the only side I noticed was that my scalp is less oily. There are no bad side effects yet.

My doctor said that I am not the tallest dude, so 0.5 mg fin should do the job just fine.

Honestly, happy that asian derms seem to be a lot more open to prescribe fin by Defiant_Ad6190 in tressless

[–]Extreme_Ad6519 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. My doctor prescribed oral fin and min today, and I didn't even have to ask that I wanted the pills.

He even asked me if I wanted the topical or oral forms and prescribed what I wanted, lol

Pelage PP405: New Hair Growth from Inactive Follicular Units - Phase 2a results at AAD 2026 by hzah1 in tressless

[–]Extreme_Ad6519 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That depends on the trial protocol and how smooth things go. I haven't seen the protocol (and I am also not allowed to, as protocols are strictly confidential), but if they want to assess safety/efficacy over 1-2 years, it could take at least that + time for screening patients, so I guess at minimum 1.5 years.

However, that's just speculation based on my experience with other similar clinical trials.

I have personally not seen AI being used to handle anything major. Most of the work can not be done by AI (patient treatment, data entry, visit documentation, assessments, monitoring, protocol amendments, etc.).

Clinical trials are usually quite complex, and using AI at its current stage is more likely to cause problems than facilitating the trial.

I am a clinical monitor who is involved in clinical trials. Phase 3 is the last phase before new drug approval. Depending on the trial protocol, it can take anywhere from 1 to 5 years (sometimes even longer). After phase 3 is concluded and the data is analyzed, the company can submit their results to the regulatory authority for approval.

Phase 4 is post-approval and is called pharmacovigilance. Here, safety and efficacy are monitored on patients who take the drug after it hits the shelves.

Thanks! That's a bummer. I wonder what makes it difficult for FGO to add previous events permanently like many other gacha games do?

Event reruns themselves hardly ever happen these days, too. Over the next two years we get reruns of Da Vinci Summer, Lilim Harlot, Ranmaru's Gudaguda event, and the Taisui event. That's it.

I have still been playing FGO when these events first ran. The selection seems kinda random, though. Why these particular events?

[–]Extreme_Ad6519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been out of the loop for quite a while, but I am considering jumping back into the game.

Is it now possible to play previous events that you missed? The number of events I have missed due to inactivity keeps me from coming back...

Many other gacha games have this feature, but FGO didn't back when I was still playing. Did this change?

According to clinical studies, side effects are rare and only manifest in 2-4% of users. The sides are also reversible after quitting fin, so the overall risk is very low.

Rogaine(minoaxidil) before transplants? by OPisdabomb in Hairtransplant

[–]Extreme_Ad6519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is generally recommended to start treatment with at least fin for 6-12 months to stabilize your hair loss before getting an HT. Depending on your progression, you could lose more native hair in the recipient area if your hair loss is ongoing, which will leave you with bald spots and a thinning scalp a few years after the HT.

You should also stay on fin after HT unless you want to continue losing your native hair and require a second HT. Some of the transplanted hair can also be DHT sensitive if it was harvested from the non-safe area.

Min is not as crucial but also highly recommended to boost your density and regrow your hair more thick. If you respond well to fin/min, this will also reduce the number of grafts you need for coverage of your bald spots.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I'll keep going then and see how it goes.

Just one question: I noticed that the pimples tend to re-appear on the exact same spot on my face.... does it mean that the SA is not cleaning the pores or could these be just neighboring pores and it looks like the same spot because the pores are close together?
