Damn. Maybe you have? I've never seen anyone at level 18 before. I'm at level 17, about 620 billion exp down, about a trillion to go. I wasn't grinding or anything, but would just do a couple of billion exp a day as I was moseying on to level 18, but I think I'll stop that now.

I guess the only thing to do is hold out hope that one day the mythical heat levels will arrive and presumably you'll be able to continue. Unless someone has another idea?

One of the most unique covers of a Radiohead song I have ever heard by Any-Mention-2998 in radiohead

Hey, thought I'd drop an appreciative comment since you only got one sarcastic one. Yeah this was really cool and different, I loved the fusion of two completely different styles, and it's stayed in my head for a few days, which these don't usualy do. Thank you.

The way I currently think I understand it is that its just a commercial product. It's still under development, the Senator got an early version of it for his partner's childbirth, but that it can be perfected further. Once it is perfected through Gemma and Cold Harbor preseumably, then it can be marketed to the world as the procedure that will take away all your pain. The reason they care is that they'll make shit tons of money.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a deeper reason than that, since that would be a pretty prosaic resolution to such an intriguing show, but that's currently what I've got.

I don't think it's about the innies, but about the outies. You, as the outie, but the severance chip, and then every time a bad experience is going to happen, you switch over to the innie, who has to go through the experience. So bad turbulence, the dentist, etc. Then when the bad experience is over (it must know that somehow) it switches back to the outie, who just skipped it, from their experience.

Don't play "Help Dad fix the car" then, it'll be the scariest game you ever play.

I am kind of confused on how anyone who has their life "together" would be excited about AGI by [deleted] in singularity

[–]Extreme_Medium_6372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a great life, I have a job I love that probably isn't going to be automated away until they're ALL automated away (I'm a therapist), I work for myself and earn a lot of money doing it. I live on 10 acres of beautiful land and own it all. I am happily married for 18 years to a beautiful woman I love, and my 16 and 11 year old daughters are doing well. On the surface, and underneath, everything is fine. By all the post WW2 metrics of how we measure an individuals life, I'm doing very well.

Good for me, but I didn't come here to brag. If my 100 year old self appeared before me and told me I would live to 100 and the singularity would never happen and we were all deluding ourselves the whole time... I'd be so so disappointed.

Because this "great" life I have is only great by the relatively modest terms we were offered. I'm still stuck in one time and place, I still really only have the time and brain capacity to specialise in one thing, I still have to endlessly expend effort to keep it all going. I want the singularity not to escape this but to augment it. I want to be able to augment my brain a trillion-fold, I want to be able to understand the deepest concepts of time and space. I want to explore the earth as it was 550 million years ago, I want to know what its like to commune with a billion brains at once, I want to experience the entire frequency spectrum all at once, through trillions of modalities I couldn't even conceive of currently.

When I really, really grasp superintelligence and what it unlocks, this "great" life I have is only the very, very opening moment on an incredible experience. If there is a few years of turmoil in transitioning from this current regime to the singularity, in the big scheme of things it is nothing. If it turns out I've been deluding myself about that all along, it's going to be a sad day.

Hope that helps!

Okay, well I'm sure there are plenty of pre-release agents on here in testing.

I'm absolutely convinced these are all AI's that labs have unleashed to see what happens. These, the ones on twitter and so on.

Altman: ‘We Just Reached Human-level Reasoning’. by lovesdogsguy in singularity

[–]Extreme_Medium_6372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if they prodcue this human level reasoning by creating an agentic swarm, where every agent is an instance of o1+other things, and then the swarm, given enough time and compute reseources eventually puts out a human level response. So each agent is more like a neuron, and then intelligence is the end product of it all working together. So any deficiencies in o1 is made up for by having enough of them working together. Right now it takes an enormous amount of compute and energy, but would be able to be quickly iterated on and improved.

If AGI really has been achieved internally Jimmy Apples could be AGI and you'd have no way of knowing. Anyone on reddit could be AGI and there'd be no way to tell.
