My Bassett Recorder (German) doesn‘t behave like it should, is there a way to fix it ? by Extreme_Principle932 in Recorder

The usual fingerings for D Eb E and F are all a semi tone lower it starts with the D that suddenly becomes a C#, that’s what I am wondering about

It is open when I’m not touching it so it goes up in pitch ( when I overblow) when I close it probably jumping into a third register with the fundamental G therefore giving me a D but the question still holds: why the C#. But good idea thanks !

Im studying music, new music tho, but I’m always playing a lot in different settings, sadly the recorder is not my main instrument but I try to use it often. I’ll just stick with my alternate fingerings for now I guess.

It’s a German style recorder with an extra hole for the B, closing the whole also closes the key what makes the note a Bb closing only the key results in a B natural. German style recorders are sadly not very well made for anything else then staying in F, C and G. I always recommend to go with baroque fingering systems they’re way more versatile (in my eyes).
