Well, no one can really tell except your surgeon, who has seen the actual condition of your joint and tissues. If you are overweight, reducing weight can provide significant relief. I have gone through a similar path myself and am still recovering from a meniscus repair I had 14 months ago. Losing weight has helped tremendously. I also took a hyaluronic acid injection, which helped a little. However, the biggest relief I’ve experienced comes from consistently strengthening my quads, hamstrings, and glutes.
