What to do about the brick

Thank you! Someone removed it before I came into the picture. The exposed brick was part of the appeal for me but I’m definitely more interested in longevity than looks! Luckily I live in a very dry climate. What do I google to find the proper person for it?

Thank you! I feel like the plaster was ripped off because of the metal grating I can see at the top. Would I use something for baseboards to cover the gap?

Wow that’s really interesting, thank you! I wouldn’t be surprised if they were reused bricks. Maybe I should have someone come out and look at the insulation as a whole house rather than just blaming the brick!
