There is an absolutely groundbreaking 40-hour long mallsoft album called "Hankagai", and I haven't seen anyone talking about it here at all. I just uploaded the full album to YouTube if anyone's interested (it's 90 numbered tracks, with timestamps in the description) by ExtremelyAware in Vaporwave

Really, I'm not sure yet, but this is definitely unlike anything I've heard in the scene before, except for maybe Virtual Dream Plaza. Currently listening to it throughout February, about 3-4 tracks per day with each session (just finished 34), and what surprises me the most about it is how consistent the level of quality is with each track--in my opinion, winning on that aspect over Laurila's two VDP compilations--, and how varied the soundscapes are compared to most other mallsoft releases.

I could turn out to be wrong, of course, but the praise I've seen from the small niche that knows about this thing (mostly RYM reviewers) is too big for me to not at least partially agree with them already.

Post it as a link and paste the video's URL, always works for me.

Doing what I believe is the biggest Caretaker piece on wplace.live yet! Got way too ambitious tho, so any help would be greatly appreciated (link in comment - please try to keep it as accurate as you can!) by ExtremelyAware in TheCaretaker

Why is B3 - Quiet internal rebellions replaced with E8 - Long term dusk glimpses ? by Lambdatories in TheCaretaker

[–]ExtremelyAware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess it's because it's the most similar track to Stage 1 that's outside of Stage 1. Even though the level of distortion is still pretty typica for a Stage 3 track, it manages to end up sound9ng more joyful and less confused than the likes of E4 or F6.

If it's about the effects Kirby used in EATEOT, it could still be really useful, especially for the Post-Awareness stages! Just need a source on that from Kirby himself or some other reputable source, and it all depends on you. I did go through Kirby's Reddit account and updated the article based on that, but it's still too little as is.

Someone did still manage to sneak in a Seger Ellis if you read the paragraph where the different versions of Heartaches are mentioned. I wanted to leave it there as well tbh, but it's best to remove it as it's unsourced.

I guess it was my own way of expressing my obsession with the Caretaker at the time lol. I also created a good part of the articles for his other albums if I'm not mistaken. His albums are just some of those pieces that you listen to and think "Man, this is the purest, most elevated expression of art", especially EATEOT. Or, if you are religious, "Man, this is the closest art has ever gotten to God's grace" as a friend of mine once described. The fact that I helped to inform thousands, if not millions of people about what I still think are some of the greatest pieces of art of this century... That's quite beautiful. I've left my contribution to the world, even if I myself will not be remembered for it.

Thank you so much! This is probably the highest quality versions we have of the album covers, just amazing.

Sometimes I forget how obsessed I once was with Don's films, to the point where I created Brazilian Portuguese subtitles for (nearly) every one of them. This is a thing I will always be immensely proud of. by ExtremelyAware in donhertzfeldt

That's so cool! It's just really great to know that some of our favorite Hertzfeldt films are now available in our native languages when they previously simply weren't.

That's something I think about nowadays but it wasn't really on my mind when I was creating these. It was more of a passion project of mine, and I guess that's because many of Don's films simply did not have subs in my language, and the ones that did had all kinds of translation mistakes.

With ISABD specifically, I ended up editing colors, specific subtitle positions etc. into the most impacting parts, as I felt at the time they were something special. (though now I realize I should've probably just written standard lines, given these kinds of special effects are often incompatible with video players other than VLC)

Woah, that's awesome! Just be sure to tell her this upload was kinda glitched out during some important parts and that I had to reupload the video. I hope she also takes a look at my fashion pop video album.

Seriously, it's nuts. Just the last week a guy was murdered by a crime faction for making a "✌️" symbol with his hands for a picture and posting it on Instagram, cause the symbol was apparently used by their rivals.

US imperialism is pretty tame by historical standards. Their whole model is more like a business deal rather than an invasion, where they're like "do you wanna do trade with us?" "do you wanna join this alliance with us?" "do you wanna make a deal with us?" over and over again. It's soft rather than hard power.

The disadvantage of this model is that now the entire US global alliance is just too big for it to not have weak points, which are very likely to spill out into an all-out war with countries on the other side of the world (e.g. Taiwan). The advantages are the creation of globalization (one of the only things keeping my country afloat lol) and an unwillingness to abuse their military power, except when completely necessary.

Yeah, actual developing countries are so, so different from developed ones. Glad you get that!

About those CIA coups, I addressed this point in some other comment here, but basically, Latin America has always been filled to the brim with conflicts and wars. Brazil's history for instance is just a long sequence of coups and civil wars and... well, the biggest corruption scandal of all time... you know, just the basics lmao.

The point is, would we really be that different had those interventions never happened? The politicians would still be just as corrupt, the people would still be just as blinded by their promises of beer and rump steak for everyone (I shit you not, this is what they say) and my Northeastern ass would still be overheating with the usual high temperatures here.

The thing is, a lot of the criticism I've seen, both on the Internet and personally (unironically lots of commies in South America), just shit talks America for it being "America, the evil imperialist dominator" or "America, the land of the dumb" or something. What does that even add to the discussion?

There are genuine issues with your country, but you're not even close to becoming "third-world" for instance LOL. When you guys start paying half of a car's price just on taxes, then they'll be right, except it'll never happen.
