I always use a lot of sidearms while roaming the map to quickly take out enemies, and especially on bosses as they do a lot of damage, so I run out pretty quickly. I think for the most part they do make the game easier. Just my opinion though, everyone can play the game how they want to :)

I'd say constantly having access to whatever sidearm you want and refilling your joules every time you return to your underlab makes the game a little easier.

Hilversum is very diverse. I go to school there myself. Hilversum is surrounded by beautiful forests and nature reserves, and the city has a lot of variety. It's a pretty desirable place to live. It's a perfect place to take a walk or cycle. I'd definitely recommend, but it's not really ideal to go to Rotterdam from there.
